GreenManGaming closed my GMG account. They said because I have created multiple GMG account. I have never created multiple GMG accounts and I want them to prove.

If they said because they just don't like me, don't like a random person, they don't want my money, they don't want a random customer, it's fine, I can go away, nothing big deal. But the fact is not like that.

They made up a lie to accuse me. I didn't do what they said. They slandered me.

So what? Should I shut up and go play with my toy car when someone slanders me? Or should I fight back for my justice? How?

Here's the emails:

Me, Jul 12 14:32 (BST):

Hello,
My GMG account name is himiller.
Today I tried to open GMG homepage and the browser kept returning 404 page not found. Some friends said they were able to open GMG homepage without problem, so I cleared the browser cache and retried, and the GMG homepage can be opened now. But, when I tried to login, it said my account is inactive. Why is that? What happend to my account and why is this happening?

everton109, Jul 12 15:36 (BST):

Hi
We have closed your account because you have fraudulently created multiple accounts and obtained games by deception.
Regards
GMG

Me Jul 12 15:49 (BST):

Sorry but I have to say, how rude you are!
How come I created multiple accounts? Why would I do this? What are the other accounts I have created? What are their names? Do you have any evidence?
This is an unacceptable and ridiculous reason.

everton109, Jul 13 07:42 (BST):

Hi
We are sorry that you find our reply rude. This does not change our position and we do not share sensitive information with customers. We have closed your account.
Regards
GMG

Update. Their recent reply to my email.

Me, Jul 13 08:50 (BST):

You are rude not because of your reply, but because your company make up lies, slander your customer and fear to prove yourself. I have not ever created multiple GMG accounts, if you want to accuse me with that reason, prove yourself, otherwise you are slandering your customer, and this behavior is against the law.
I’m now formally requesting for a talk to your supervisor regarding my account that has been closed for no reason, and for I and my reputation have been slandered by your company.
Please forward this message to your supervisor and reply to this email in 48 hours.

Thanks to NGPriest, he helped me to make a call to the GMG customer service. They told me that they'll investigate my case and reply me, and then hung up my phone. (Before I finished talking. That's rude!)

This is their latest reply:

everton109, Jul 13 10:09 (BST):

Hi
I am the Supervisor of Customer Services. We have reactivated your account, but you will no longer be able to purchase games at Greenman Gaming.
Regards
GMG

Now my GMG account has been reactivated. I can login now, but I'm not gonna buy any game from them in my life. I swear.

Now I can see some doubt, why there are some people made up excuses for GMG? If you can't prove your guess, just don't guess. Here are their excuses:

Q: Trade-in Disciples II is not allowed?

A: Read this by yourself:

Not long to go until the end of our second birthday promotion, so in addition to continuing massive daily discounts we're giving out Disciples II: Gold Edition for free. This offer is available until Saturday 0900 UTC 26th May.

If Disciples 2 isn't your thing, don't fear! After the free promotion, you'll be able to trade in Disciples for $5 or £3 credit towards ANY game on the site! Combine that with some of our pre-order offers and you could be picking up games like Sleeping Dogs at a truly green discount!

  • The GMG Team

So can you read the above sentences from them? Will you prove you are selectively ignoring this?

Please don't forget, they didn't say anything regarding my trade-in, didn't say I was not allowed to trade-in the games to buy another game. They said the reason they have banned me was I had created multiple GMG accounts, but that reason does not exist.

Q: You must have multiple accounts

A: Prove it!

Why don't you just prove it when you accuse a random person? You have my login IPs, you logged everything in your system, if there are multiple accounts that belong to me, show the account names, and show the connections between the so called multiple account between me. Why don't you prove? Or do you just can't prove because everything you accused does not exist?

Very simple reason, because you made it up! If you are sure I have multiple accounts, you have enough information in your system, just prove it!

Q: You said you don't have multiple accounts, why don't you prove?

A: Welcome hijacker! You can prove a negative!

If I say you have multiple accounts, can you prove you don't?
If I say you have stolen my money, 50 million dollars! 50 million!!! Now you prove you didn't!!!

Q: Referral code?

A: I don't know what is that.

Now I see a new excuse, referral code! So much fun!
I created the account because I was convinced to get Disciples II for free. If you say I'm connected with some referral code, prove it! Show everyone the code, show the connection between me and the code. For example, how much money I've earned from the referral code? Show everyone the transaction log that indicates the referral code in my GMG account and my IPs, show all of my transaction logs in your system. You don't need to say much, proving it means everything. PROVE IT! Or did you just made up a new excuse?

It is super easy for a GMG staff to prove all of what they said, they got my information, my login logs, my IPs (I use a PPPoE connection, and I only login GMG at home from the same personal computer), but none of them did! WHY? Or they just can't because all of these were made up? Why did you hijack my thread but feared to prove what you said? WHY?

HAVE FUN HIJACKING MY THREAD! GMG!

Q: Why don't you just let go of GMG, they have already reactivated your account!

A: Because:

  • My account doesn't restore to normal, they put a restriction to my account so that I can't buy anything from them. Although I won't and I will never buy anything from them, I want it to restore to totally normal. Because I have done nothing wrong!
  • I've been slandered for doing nothing wrong! But GMG didn't even say a sorry to me! They owe me an official apology.
  • GMG can't stop everyone knowing what they are.

I was slandered for doing nothing wrong and they even didn't say a sorry. I want to let others know how they cheated on me. What I want from them is a "Sorry", an official apology.

Of course I would like to know the truth. Why they picked me? Am I just an unlucky random person? I guess I'll never know the truth, but never mind, at least I can let people know my case, I have just showed people a real case. And of course I felt better after posting this thread. Because I don't believe what I have done was wrong. I have no multiple accounts, no cheats, everything I did was simple and as they suggested, got two free games, traded-in Disciples II for credit, and later on used the credit to reduce the price on a game. They encouraged us to do this. I will never ever keep silent when someone slandered me, never.

And if a GMG representative sees and says an official "Sorry" to me, fine, I'll say "No problem" and accept that apology. But before that, unless no one still cares to post in this thread, I'll keep it open. That's all what I want.

Why should I give them proof when I have done nothing? If I say you have stolen my money, do you need to prove it to me? When they say I have created multiple account, they are the one who started the flame, should they be the one who to prove.

It is actually possible to prove a negative. I say there is a teapot hovering in a certain spot on your head. The negative would be that you need to prove there is no such thing and you can actually show me that.

That's their excuse. They just banned a random person.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Because releasing account personal information to an unqualified person is a perfect way to walk into a PR and legal disaster. The privacy policy and GMG's legal liability is more important to them than a customer they've already determined (for whatever reason) is unwelcome on their service. Their terms of service are not written to defend you at their expense.

Besides, we're taking OP's word on it, and people always paint themselves in the best possible light when taking their argument into public. Besides, since when is SteamGifts the Better Business Bureau of the Internet? Or long-form Twitter?

question: Request #17304
Why I can't buy more copies of a steam activation game? May 27 10:21
I gave away first copy to a friend and I want to buy another for myself, why would I have to create another account?

answer: Hi, unfortunately, you may only purchase one product per account. If you would like to purchase another game, it would have to done through a different account, with different payment method.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

He was banned for turning in FREE games for credit and using it to buy another game.
He said himself in the other thread that he had done this. The CS rep who said multuple accts was probably just giving their generic response.

Whether the system mistakenly allows it or not, do you not soee anything wrong with getting free games then turning them in for credit?

That's how I bought my first game on there. Since then I have purchased 7-8 games on there. If anything the free games they give away is just incentive for people to use their services. If it wasn't for the free games I would have never signed up.

Uh, I haven't used GMG much, but I remember them specifically advertising something along the lines of "even if you don't want it, get it and trade it in for credit!" in the case of their Disciples II freebie. I don't think that's something they generally ban people for.

Wether you're playing with a game you didn't pay for (because they gave it away) or you trade it in to buy a different game, I fail to see the big difference. If it actually bring them a new costuner that's likely to buy games again then I say this is a good thing.

Plus there's also the ever-present threat of people trying to social engineer account information out of people. If you don't believe that happens, work in customer service for a bit.

I accused OP of having a first world problem. If you can't follow the conversation logic, I don't really know what to say to help you.
