Important info/help I'm asking for at bottom/last paragraph if you don't want ALL the details.

Backwards Compatible PS3 model CECHE-01 W/4 USB ports & all that good stuff..

Slow internet & data cap and cannot watch alot of videos trying to find the best/most helpful video of fixing the issue.

Would like advice from people who have dealt with the ylod and came out on top. Like what method you used and overall after your research and experience which is the best method solution so i can choose accordingly.

Question is this..I have satellite internet that has a data limit on it..And I know the possible causes of this error but I want help finding the best video tutorial of the fix as I cannot just watch every single video to find the best one (believe me in this case I would do that if bandwidth wasn't A HUGE issue). Or even A decent txt/pic guide with alot of details. Although I think I can and already have found most of the best txt guides like that, As they aren't very bandwidth heavy documents like A video would be.

The yellow light just means your ps3 has crashed so just restart it. Boom its fixed. Also im too lazy to read the description

i'm affraid it didn't just simply crash..and needs A quick restart...it will not show a picture or any sign of a picture about to pop up...and will not power anything on other than the light on front...the fan doesn't kick on..cannot get the disk out of the drive..and it's more serious than just...rebooting the system unfortunately.

disconnect power for a minute then restart PS 3. that could help. Is there a way you can check how much data u used on the internet? maybe there is some dust on the internet cable(was a problem i had) just disconnect en reconnect.

yes. I can monitor the bandwidth limit for the month. And one more thing. I regularly cleaned out the ps3 and overall treated it like A child and kept up on any dust. I took the system apart and did all the cleaning most of the time and everything from wiping the outside/vents off and using A vacuum cleaner hose for the times the dust wasn't very noticable and taking the system apart didn't seem necessary.

Ha I noticed. I am looking for the most reliable way to fix the console for the long haul and A nice video to watch/study to understand the process before I do the fix itself. I want to be completely ahead of the game and not wondering anything while getting to the problem and fixing it. And I also have the tools I believe necessary to do the fix and in the process add new thermal paste to all needed areas as the system if getting A little old and in need of newer/higher quality grease while i'm at it. But I cannot watch every single video about the fix and would like someone to point me in the direction of the best one and even better...one that actually helped someone fix their ylod.

it can also be that during an update the datastream was interrupted... because of your data limit. How to fix that.. i think you can reboot with an earlier version but how exactly to do that i dont know.

i'm sure what u are talking about is not the issue. For many reasons, one reason being that I cannot get the system to power on at all (other than the two lights for power/disk and the beep sound when u turn on the console..it's one beep btw..other than the sound and lights their is NO sign of life in the console) to even get to the point that it can connect to the internet. But thx for trying to help my man. I may have worded my description wrong somewhere along the line.

Have you tried the Recovery Menu?

I'm very aware of the recovery menu..and I can report that it will not even boot up at all to get to the menu in the first place. Not even A possibility of getting to the menu and even if I could IDK what that would help as I don't seem to have A hdd issue or data corruption as I kept up on the system in everyway possible (physically and virtually) including rebuilding database and all that good stuff the menu can do for the system. This system is one of my most prized possessions..I would rather my...it's new to me pc but old/mid-range (have over 350 games on it for steam and even more including other digital services, music and alot of personal stuff)...or my 32" tv...or surround sound system go out before my ps3. Even though Most of those things I just mentioned cost much more than my ps3 and are much newer....Or even my xbox 360 and I have an INSANE amount of games for it including dlc, XBLA games...and also my wii..and again..I have ALOT of games for it. The ps3 is just my favorite/most useful thing I own...Period.

So sometimes when you get the YLoD, it can mean a few things. 1. The heat from the processor has warped the board, leading to the contacts between the cell/cpu to break and come apart. There is methods of fixing it. I forget what it's called. 2. It could be your cpu overheated(sometimes it dries out on originals. And may require you to reapply thermal paste directly to it. Thats best case scenario.

I have an original 60gig launch machine with backward comp. And I'm babying the machine so it doesn't do that to me. Thus far I've changed the power supply to a more efficient and cooler one, changed the fan and lastly changed out the thermal paste on the cell and the cpu.

Good luck trying to fix it.

Thx for the info. So far I am really hoping it ends up being the thermal paste wore out or maybe the power supply inside the system blowing a capacitor or something. But I am ready for the worst at this point and ready to fix the worst case scenario if it comes down to it with reballing some solder and all that. System shut down in the middle of black ops 2 zombies..newest map while game was paused (maybe 15 minutes paused). And might be worth noting that the fan was not even close to full speed which makes me believe it wasn't getting very hot on the cpu/gpu as I would think the fan would adjust like it always does when those two get hot. So maybe it was the ram chips that overheated and not the normal suspects. As I read on one guide those could also be problem areas and cause the ylod.

You can change the PS3's thermal paste and reflow it. However this is only a temporally fix. (And for me when I've done it it's only lasted 1-4 weeks each time) though during that time you can get all of your stuff off it if you want.

Another thing you can do is pay someone to reball it(which is what I may do soon.) I'm not sure if it will delete your stuff or not, but it will fix the PS3 better than the reflow I imagine.

reball sounds like the way to go. and i know if i had to buy a new for me but actually old system and put the hdd i have now in their..it requires you to reformat the hdd to work in the new system. So I really want/need to just fix my current one as it's the best ps3 model imo of all them with 4 usb ports and all that (very important for me).

Throw your PS3 out your window and play on PC.

But in all seriousness, I have never owned a console, but I heard for Xbox 360(I don't know if it work for PS3) but you gotta piut it in a freezer then take it out, let it thaw and it might work. I am nowhere near an expert so I dunno if it'll work.

Whoa now..i'm A gamer..not A fanboy..I don't care if it's on A cellphone...NES...or A watch..if it's good i'll play it.

I had my PS3 get the YLOD. I had to take it apart and put it in the oven while closely monitoring it. If you don't feel comfortable with that you probably need to get the CPU or GPU reflowed.

heard their is two different options...A reflow & A much better reballing of the solder. Trying to get A decent video of A nice tutorial on the whole process for A reballing.

How about, you know, taking it to specialist and not trying home "fixes" that in all likelihood will just do irreparable damage as it seems you don't know much about working with electronics?

Apparently you have been reading everyone elses comments. I'm very capable of doing A reflow myself. Now A reball. That is A step up for me. I'm just trying to get as much knowledge/opinons as possible before going into the reflow. But i'm sure in the long run. I will in fact get A pro involved for A reball. And it seems alot of people on here have very little to terrible advice on fixing this problem. Just covering all my bases since this is not the only place I decided to try and get advice from. Not surprisingly...this site has the most replies trying to help (not the best advice but their trying). That's the only reason I posted here since the forums are alive here.

My 5 years old PS3 slim got this YLOD too. There's no way to fix it except to reball it. From what I read, reballing is expensive, so it is better to buy a new one.

My temporary fix is by removing the HDD, turn it on. Continue to turn on the PS3 until you got the "Cannot find system." Leave it for 5 minutes. By then, the PS3 should be warm. Put back the HDD and then it should work normally. I can play for 2 hours before the PS3 shuts down by itself. I think the key for the temporary fix is to heat the PS3, it's just like turning on your car in a cold winter I think.

This PS3...cannot be replaced...That is not an option...I have 11gigs left on A 1TB HDD (roughly 930gigs in reality) that is all video games and content for video games. With my data cap on my internet it would take me A short lifetime to get the DLC/PSN games, updates and all that back in acceptable time with it.
