It's a great idea to buy games on third-party sites from a publisher who is illegally mass-revoking steam keys purchased on third-party sites before.

Who what when where?

Revoked keys seem to only apply to those bought from grey market only so this deal should be ok since its from fanatical, an authorized seller.

Just like the guy above said, I would say provide actual proof they did something illegal, or keep your opinions to yourself.

They said, that they have revoked keys, but only keys which weren't sold by them or from a store they gave the keys to:

So, safe on Fanatical then.

No, its not safe with that publisher. As they said:

"This is because the distributor you purchased your key from isn’t one of our trusted partners."

"To avoid similar issues in the future, we recommend purchasing from reputable sources (Steam for instance), as third-party sites with lesser credibility can pose privacy risks."

They don't have any public list of "trusted partners", "good trusted sites", "sites with greater credibility" so there is no guarantee at all that 4 years after the purchase they won't steal the keys again.

Could you please provide the sources for your citations?

This is my source (linked in my comment above):

Thats not "your sourse". Thats a answer from publisher on "King Arthur: Knight's Tale" steam discussions page. You post their answer from "Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr" discussion page.

The answer from the dev is the same. You post citations that are never made. And you say that they don't have trusted sellers - without any proof.

Yes, I saw that it is another link, that was my bad. But you also said that they revoke keys in general, so it doesn't really matter.

"You post citations that are never made"

The developer's response, which I quoted, is attached directly to the post I send.

Hey guys!
We recently had to tighten our privacy measures, and unfortunately, your codes were most likely affected. This is because the distributor you purchased your key from isn’t one of our trusted partners.

To avoid similar issues in the future, we recommend purchasing from reputable sources (Steam for instance), as third-party sites with lesser credibility can pose privacy risks.

Please, message me about this, and let me know what the site you purchased your game from is. It's possible it is among our trusted partners after all. In this case we'll work with you to recuperate your losses. You can contact me on our website's[neocoregames.com] support chat, or DM me on our Discord server[discord.gg]. My name on there is 'oeregharcos - Neocore Support'

Aaah, ok, you got me. At least in this point, I need another coffee. And I want to apologize for my mistake regarding the citations.

But: I also saw that you edited your comment. And I am VERY sure that you initially stated that they don't have any trusted resellers.

And: They sold their keys to trusted resellers, otherwise HB, Fanatical and so on couldn't sell them.

I bet that the revoked keys are from the grey market. It wouldn't be the first time.

Correct.

"We want to make it very clear, that no keys were revoked that were purchased from us (neither directly nor indirectly through stores that we sold keys to)."

Quote taken from the link both of you provided. "stores" is plural. Meaning Steam and Humble, GMG, Fanatical for sure.

I am always interested in finding out how scammers are able to get Steam to generate unauthorized keys for games though. Since it seems like the devs would have needed to generate the keys themselves otherwise. I'm definitely not fully informed on this topic.
