I didn't, despite picking Team Corgi from the start, and entering every day. I know the odds of winning were pretty small, but I am wondering if anyone in the SG community won a game or two or three from their Steam wishlist?

Over already? Oh, well. I didn't get anything. I even have 10.000 tokens, but there is nothing that I'm interested.

Do you know if the tokens will go to another steam event?

As per their FAQ page,
"Can I save my tokens for the next event?
We haven't designed the next event yet, so we can't make any promises! However, you won't be able to redeem these tokens for Grand Prix rewards after 9 July, 2019 @ 7:00:00 pm CEST."

Which probably means "if you'll hoard them, we will not reuse them" :) .

You could level up your Grand Prix badge 100 times. You get 100 XP for each badge level, so this would net you 10,000 XP and increase your Steam level from Level 28 to Level 50, increasing your trading card booster pack drop rate by 43% if my calculations are correct.

Yes, you win the top purchasable game on your list. I would be surprised by the amount of confusion about this if I didn't know that Valve changed not only the wording but the event rules every day for the first four or five days, so it's possible that people misunderstood because they read a description that was changed before I saw it. Many people also apparently thought that you won a random or other selection from the games on your wishlist because they deleted a number of games, upsetting developers - https://www.kotaku.co.uk/2019/06/27/valve-changes-steam-sale-after-widespread-complaints-from-developers-and-players

Actually, the " top one" is daily giveaways. In the end it was supposed to give 1000 top3- to winners (Corgi), 1000 top-2 to 2nd place and 1000 top-1 to 3rd place ontop of that. Atleast I recall it being 1000, that information is now scrubbed of the giveaway page.

This is correct, here's the exact rules - https://store.steampowered.com/grandprix/rules.
The TL;DR is there are 3 different types of giveaways

  • Daily: 300/200/100 of the top game in the wishlist depending on daily placement of teams (top being selected by the user by placing it on top there was a lot of misunderstanding about that)
  • Final: 3/2/1 of the top game(s) in the wishlist for 1000 people depending on final placement of the teams
  • Alternative entry: Send a postcard to valve with certain info and you get manually entered in the giveaways (can send multiple post cards for each of the days) odds of winning will be based on the odds of winning of the other giveaways (not sure if you can enter both alternative and normal giveaways, I'm not seeing a mention of that but it is named alternative)

As far as I know only one of my friends won something, but he won Metro: Exodus (yes, that's actually possible) and Cyberpunk 2077 today. Metro: Exodus from the last Corgi win, Cyberpunk 2077 from being one of the extra 5,000 winners. I still can't believe it.

Yes, indeed! I was the one who found out that he won Cyberpunk 2077, the Steam activity feed showed that he now owns Cyberpunk 2077), and that surprised me. He then checked his email account and noticed that he also won Metro: Exodus. Unbelievable.

Not that much as ppl think at first, Valve dont pay Steam tax, so 60$/€ becomes (max) 42$/€, but im sure there is some deal with CD Projekt Red

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

How did you get 42? I thought they charged 30%, so it should be a little over $46, or maybe more than that if the developers are in a group that has to pay less than 30%.

Anyway, it's much more money than I'll ever have to give away. I guess they had a good sale in spite of the Grand Prix stuff ups. :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think you need to use calculator or learn math XD no hard feelings, 30% of 60 is 18, so 60-18=42 :D
oh yeah, that new policy should apply for CDPR, ty for reminder

He is right.
The 30% is 'applied' to well ... the price without Valve's commision:
(100% + 30%) or 1.3*x = 60 <-> x = ~46.2

Did you spend more than one cent on the sale? If not then you most likely won't win anything as the prizes will go to the top 1% of the buyers.

Comment has been collapsed.

Is there any source for this or you're just assuming? As far as I understand the only the only requirement is to have contributed to the speed, which can be done without spending a cent

I have not spent anything on the sale. I thought the prizes were awarded randomly among everyone on the team. I think you may be mistaken about that, but if that's the case than it certainly makes me feel better about not winning anything. Not that I really expected to, anyway.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As long as you boosted your team at least once during the sale, you have a chance to win. There's nothing anywhere that indicates it has anything to do with spending.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Okay, that's what I thought. I did boost my team a few times, though not every day, so I'll chalk up my not winning to just the odds of over a million people entering and only a few thousand winning.

Also, hello again, my cheesy friend. :)
