  1. He gave you a legit answer. You let the giveaway creator know, and now it's up to him to take care of it.
  2. If you don't need my permission to post your rude, insulting comments, I certainly don't need your permission to point them out.

Seems the mods saw that too ;)

This really is unnecessary. Please keep your comments civil and avoid personal attacks.

Personal attacks or hate speech. Threats, harassment, and slurs (e.g. insults towards a user's race, sexual orientation, or gender) are not allowed.

To answer your question (adding to what others have said), the giveaway creator can submit a ticket to request a winner (you in this case) to be removed when a reroll is not possible. Generally, we review these under either the "Delete Giveaway" or "Request New Winner" categories.

He's actually half right, but skip the glass of water, contact support, and give the creator of the giveaway a heads-up about the issue.

Generally it takes support about 48 hours to fix the issue.

The last time it took support 8 months to remove one winner from a multi-copy-giveaway I made. I would be really surprised if it's just 48h nowadays.

Unless you can convince giveaway creator to delete the giveaway, just keep it and mark it as received, not much else you can do.

You can ask for delete single entry/win. Or atleast it was possible in past.
I had created giveaway, when entries were lower than keys and someone asked for reroll.
but only creator can do that

I would explain it to the GA creator and ask him to withdraw the key, so it would at least not flash at me for weeks or even months to come, and so I would not reveal it by an accident. Then I would write a ticket to support myself explaining the situation... and patiently wait with the red 1 teasing me on top of my SG display.
Sadly, we know how busy the mods are here, and for all I know dealing with any issues with multiple copy GAs is a bit complicated for them. When I have received a dupe key in a multi-GA, 1 of 2 folks out of 15 or so, and agreed to my win being deleted, it took them at least quite a few weeks, if not months, to deal with this on the request of GAs creator.
But as long as you don't reveal the key and inform both the GAs creator and support about the circumstances, I think, that you are in the clear.

you could ask support to delete your entry, though it may take more than 6 months and you'll see this "won thingy" for a while.
P.S. seems like @PatchmaN already suggested it ._

Happened to me before. It requires a Super Mod of lvl 4 or above to delete only one out of the multiple giveaways. Opened a ticket, while leaving the giveaway unmarked, until a Super Mod deleted the giveaway in a couple months time.

almost 4 years ago when i created ticket, it took only few hours (10)
previous ticket was 2 days
maybe i was just lucky or maybe things changed :)

Yeah, back when I opened a ticket, only cg could make the change as other high enough support left sg. Since then, a couple of Super Mods and Ultra Mods were brought in, so hopefully it won't take too long now.

You file a support ticket, same as everyone else.

The latest thread by cg about new support users. Just looking through the thread and profiles, I see 2 users that are Super Mod and above.

Use the users link at the bottom of any SG page, and then the left column to find all the moderators of SG.

You can remove one or more giveaway participants. It is very long, but possible.
As for you, it seems to me that you should check what giveaways you are entering. This should not be a problem for the GA creator.

it's much simpler to stop entering for DLC you already own. You've been here long enough to know that you should check DLC, Bundles and Deluxe versions of games before you enter giveaways for them.

To answer your question, it's more up to the giveaway creator to resolve this, not the winner.
As doctorofjournalism said, "enjoy a tall glass of water" - meaning, relax and let things get sorted, you've done all you can.

Please never do this. Only mark a game as "Received" when you activate the correct game on your account - not when you already have it.

you could check before you enter, don't you think? saves the giveaway creator the trouble

Good advice...

Yeah, this. Would save a lot of time, both gifters' and support's, if users were just a bit more wary of what they enter.

And it's not even time-consuming at all, as ESGST can take care of it with the Hidden Games Manager (3.32), which lets you hide owned IDs (via private API endpoint, so it hides EVERYTHING, even banned/removed games), in conjunction with the Hidden Games Enter Button Disabler (3.31) to be prevented from accidentally entering giveaways for those IDs.

There's still an edge case with packages since they aren't necessarily registered anywhere, but that's easy to check afterwards.

even without any addons it just take a couple seconds to click on the game and check ownership. I always do this with dlc and if I have it I hide it so I won't have to check every single time, but I wouldn't expect such basic politeness from OP

Same. It takes as much time as it takes to make one click.

You have received a lot of good answers.
I would just add that I would suggest that you use an addon like ESGST to keep track of your owned products. It can mark them and stop you from entering (I think it can also change the color of the button to red).
This way you can avoid a similar situation in the future. :)
