Chill your jingles, stop making baseless assumptions, because there is no reason to believe it won't be showing in Steam store later. Even if it will launch Uplay on start up anyway.

Why do they have to be in different rooms?

or god forbid we be able to just use games we own drm free and not have to deal with a clunky useless client. How would we ever play games without some annoying integrated chat, or earn badges from achievements, or not have a profile on which to display those badges.
I mean, I guess it would be like having physical steamworks games on a shelf in your room. Yes, doesnt take much effort to get up, and walk to the shelf to fetch your game, but damn would it be nice and convenient to have it just on your computer ready to play wouldnt it?
(while you're up walking between shelves grab me a copy of halflife on uplay will you? I don't want more than one client as i apparently must have one anway I'd like to keep it to a minimum)

I know right? Everyone should learn from valve and not only release their games on their own proprietary platform... oh... nevermind.

Its probably cause in order to release the game on steam, they have to pay valve a cut.

I've heard this can be as much as 30% for small publishers, but the point is that its probably more value for them to release on their in-house system uplay which doesn't take a percentage hair cut.

You start it via Steam, close the game and return to Steam, you don't need to do anything with Uplay.
When starting a game the Uplay client start and start the game. No need to even touch Uplay if you don't want to.

Except that would really depend on the deal they made beforehand. The fact that they acquired a license to use the Source engine, doesn't mean it has to be sold through Steam.
