i understand why you are doing this, but i'm pretty sure this is calling out. even if it's one Steamtrades. and you perfectly correct in your desire to make him stop
i would say contact support, but it wouldn't work.

Looks like a lot of old and abandoned accounts were hacked. I was impersonated by a 13-year old one as well, but that account is now trade banned and set to private, abandoned again. Based on the text written on your impersonator, it seems to be the same person or a member of the same group.

I added him as a friend. That immediately tipped him off.
But in your case I'd suggest taking screenshots and sending an impersonation report to both Valve and SteamReps before doing that. My doppelgänger was trade banned by Valve due to these reports. Make sure the Steam ID is visible in the address bars. At least this is an easy case even for the trained monkeys at Valve to quickly act upon. :D

What do you mean, whole message? Make screencaps that show your ID64 numbers and that the two pages want to look identical. As for the Valve report, just send it and if he doesn't switch over, they can check with a glance. With an impersonation report, you as the impersonated won't really have a chance to communicate with the impersonator anyway.

Could be, because I think he is part of a group. The account was really old, but had CS:S played last. This usually indicates either an old sleeper account or an abandoned and hacked/sold one. Like the one accused in this thread as well. The similarities either point towards a single person or the same group using pre-written descriptions.
(It was ironic that his account was plastered with Valve games, even though I never hid my resentment towards their products.)

First, you can't call out even if this is an obvious case of impersonation. The rules are the rules and in the past people had problems for calling out.
Second, I had gone thru the same issue once and I had to pretty much hunt down the guy an try to convinse everyone that I was the real one and the other guy was an impersonator. Luckily the guy moved on to the next victim the next day and it became someone else's problem.

If you have alt account, you can hit yourself with Negative rep on SteamTrades, put all information there, and hope people read them..
In case if your impersonator haven't tagged by SteamRep, send a report to them with necessary evidence

You can try to put little warning on your pic too, and on your Steam Profile

Report his ass on Steam too, he might get trade ban, i recent saw a scammer get trade ban and steamrep marked after scamming a tf2 item, so reporting on steam does work.

Make a trade topic titled a " I have 370 games, any less than that and that's an impersonator" - if the impersonator is so clever that they listed your open topics, they do deserve that :3

It's the same impersonator I've seen few month ago (with exact 13 Old profile, Steam Trades favorite group, and closed comment)
He used to post second page of someone reputation link, so people can't see the "warning" message in first page.

The way to prevent it is to contact older trader to edit their SteamTrades trade feedback so they can't link the second / third reputation page

I always wondered why cg doesn't simply allow each user to drop a note/introduction on their own profile. Would prevent a lot of those impersonator issues.

Very likely the site's structure is not up to that :\ A simple, short status message like MSN's were (like 30 characters?) would be so helpful for a lot of people.

i had quite a few impersonators. don't worry too much about it. from my experience they never do too much damage. just report them on steam and forget about it. your impersonator might actually scam a person or two, but there's nothing you can do to prevent it. and if that happens, and you get added by a scammed person, stay calm and try to explain everything. nothing more you can do.

13 years old account. That means he specially bought the account to scam people. (yes you can buy extremely old accounts for few bucks. Lots of old Dota/CS/TF 2 game accounts floating around).

I was informed about my impersonators too which I ignored (lack of time) until they start managing to scam people. Most people would realize their mistake but someone will leave bad rep and blame you for their stupidity.

And until recently that meant that you would have a negative rep or two that wouldn't go away. And the scammer will proceed to next victim. Thankfully that's less of a problem now for you but gullible people still get scammed. They still need to improve the profile page on steamtrades so you can inform others about important info like this.

For now the only precaution you can take is announce it in all your trading threads. Hopefully the potential victim will take a look on your trade threads before proceeding to trade with the scammer.

Something like this on all your trade threads.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
I have impersonators. So first make sure that the guy you are dealing with is me. My profile has games, lvl and always public (including all inventory etc). steamcommunity.com/profiles/** (your actual link)

They use disposable accounts so getting banned isn't much of an issue for them once they have scammed enough to cover their costs and make a profit. But it's worth the effort to get them reported so that at least they don't keep using the same account to hop on other hosts. it will slow them down.

You could change your picture or Photoshop it, Honestly that person is most likely a scammer if they're linking your steamtrades.
Not to mention their comment on profile "justseedy 6 Feb @ 11:54pm
I closed the comment section due to excessive spam and phishing attempts. If you want to exchange reputation after a successful trade, use SteamTrades in order to do so."
Whoever the person is they're trying to give you a bad name.

Since they are linking to your steamtrades threads as their "proof", you should add a little note saying you have an impersonator and link to your actual profile.

On Steam, Edit Profile(under where your badge is shown) then go to Custom URL. You type anything in the space provided and then click save. Instead of a URL ending with random numbers that leads to your steam profile, you have a personalized URL. No one else can have the same custom URL, so this feature is one of the best ways to find out who is the real you and who are trying to pretend to be you.
