Only Ghost of Tsushima is locked as of right now, but it seems like they finally came to their senses. I suppose the sales of Stellar Blade and lobbying of the devs of that game to remove that lock finally made them realize that more money is better than less money, so yay. Now we just need to wait for some good sale

Now I'm wondering if someone would buy a key for those games that were locked in those countries before, would they be redeemable now? Only one way to find out, but I'm too scared to test it :D

The keys are still region blocked as before, only thing that changed is the direct store package availability. They haven't created new keys yet.

Ghost of Tsushima, Until Dawn™, Midnight Murder Club, LEGO® Horizon Adventures™ still region blocked. Sony doing a half-assed job as usual?

Their whole strategy of not selling games in places without PSN while having no plans to expand the reach of the service and offering no alternative whatsoever was weird to say the least so I guess someone at Sony realized it made little comercial sense and reverted it. Although ever since they implemented that I've had this one simple doubt, do they not sell any PlayStation product in countries without PSN or will they sell you a PS console with effectively no internet functionality?

I'm from one of those countries... They have official stores and even support... But not sure what they say or even said before how to get psn plus (to play online). I think now you can have account but I could be wrong.. But previously you couldn't, so people just made accounts in UK, Russia, USA or whatever(probably what was the cheapest psn plus).
At least that's what I know while not really having almost any experience with a console..

So their unofficial position was a "you figure it out" then? That just makes it even more confusing that they suddenly decided to straight up lock out those countries.
I guess they had some larger plan in mind that got aborted at some point when their push for live service games ended up being mostly a flop.

Thanks for the answer, I never bought any PlayStation so I had no clue of how they handled their online services.

Actually I guess we don't have any official playstation store or something like that (though maybe official country playstation facebook account 😅). But playstation has been sold from first one. Just word of mouth I guess how to play online (with different region, for example, UK) etc..

Summer sale on the 26th, however, I don't think any of those will get good discounts yet. some might not even get any discounts yet. but, good news they finally woke up and removed that block. think they still need to remove it, and psn account requirement, from lego horizon.

The thought that this happens 2 days after Stellar Blade sells a ton on PC (that has no restrictions btw), kinda makes me think they did this after seeing the success on Stellar Blade and region-free games

Everybody could tell that the lost sales will be the only outcome of that decision, but Mr. Hulst is an idiot who had more bright ideas like going all in with GaaS trend chasing. Outcome of that is also well known. :D

the only reason would be they hate to make money, as you can tell by the push on live service games and completely forgetting about single player IP's they could make with the money wasted on said live services - Days Gone 2, Bloodborne Remastered, a new Uncharted game, new Jak and Daxter game, new Ratchet & Clank game and the list goes on and on lol, Sony isn't very smart nowadays

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is also available.

For now games with a remaining lock are Ghost of Tsushima, Until Dawn and Lego Horizon Adventures. Midnight Murder Club also, but it requires PSN so it's (kinda) understandable.

Now I'm wondering who can afford those games in the regions where lock has been lifted. I mean countries where putting food on the table is a major and daily concern.

Pretty sure it is Sony being Lazy since officially Steam is still banned in Vietnam. So they probably didn't bother removing the block.

now if only the regional pricing went back to normal. currently the regional pricing is not applicable. so for example a game that should be $13 - $15 is being sold at full price $40.

At least you have regional pricing for other games. My country doesn't have any, so buying full-priced games is never an option.
