Sometimes you can certainly get lucky if people are too intimidated to bid. At least with Tomb Raider though, that was not the case - winning bids were 1800, 1775, & 1675.

Finally managed to get Prey for 1160. Too bad I wasted krowns on three other games before they started with the new bid system. Before I was just trying to get whatever I could. But now if you have arount 800-1500 krowns you can actually get good games.

I don't know your exact circumstances, but I think one of two things could have happened (or a combination of both):
First, since the bid counter only updates on page refresh, perhaps you only thought that you were making a new highest bid when in fact somebody else bid the same sum in the time between you refreshing the page and unlocking and typing in your bid.
Second, the countdown shown on the page is actually based on your computer's clock, so you could have been actually seeing the wrong time, while the system on their side registered the time correctly. I missed a winning bet once because somehow my clock was out of sync and while I thought i was making a bid with about 10 seconds to spare, I was actually too late to bid at all, so I just wasted the unlocking fee and got a message along the lines of "The bidding has already ended".
EDIT I somehow missed that you said the other bid was higher. I have no idea about that.

It was a bit strange. I completely expected higher bids so kept refreshing and seeing mine top - but the results showing the bid timings indicated I had 'lost' before I'd even bid. Certainly my refreshes should have showed it afterwards as well. All excited and not even close XD.
I didn't know about the countdown clock though - Thanks for that information. I assumed it was set their server side, although my system clock is pretty much spot on anyway.
In the end it didn't matter for me, just hoping the information that it can seem delayed sometimes may help those sniping due to the rule that if two people bid the same, the earlier bid wins.

Don't bet too early. If you put in a bet for 1200 at the start, someone is going to come along and outbid you. Wait til near the end.

I don't know if the key providers are actually reading the reports from these giveaways or not. On the report page there's an option to send a message and tag it as Help, which should escalate it to Kinguin support, and they should get back to you pretty quick.

I'd put in a report through the report a problem link on the game key page (complete with the screenshots they want), got no response what-so-ever from the 'seller', eventually added a message to it to see if anyone would respond, and a few days later used the Help option from the initial report's page to open up a Kinguin ticket. Kinguin support got back to me in less than a day. They weren't able to replace the key with the same game, but offered me a refund of my Ninja Krowns, or a random game key.

Not a bad list, there are some great titles there that offer tons of hours of gameplay, I like how they keep adding freshly released games like AoW planetfall but that game is probably gonna have a pile of dlc down the line >.>
Also... dragons dogma is a great game if anyone is mildly interested in it they should definitely grab it if possible
