Just bought a used Wii (mostly for playing Resident Evil 4 Wii version, which supposedly is one of the best versions of the game). So, what is your favorite ever Nintendo console/handheld?

The first one I owned was N64, and I have the fondest memories of it. But I will say Gamecube. I could say Wii, because it can basically play all GC games and more, but it was the Gamecube I got to play all those amazing titles first. If it weren't for REmake and The Twin Snakes, I would never be the fanatic of Resi and Metal Gear that I am now. Not to mention that Metroid Prime was my very first game I played on GC, what an eye opener that was! Still one of the best games I've ever played.

I never had any other Nintendo console before so I feel this is very biased by my only experience being the Switch... but I'll say this much - I've never once regretted getting a Switch, this thing is neat as fuck. It's a really good handheld console as-is, but the way this console is modular and allows you to quickly and easily setup to play with other people on the go is where it really shines. Handheld devices are nice, and sure I like my Steam Deck... but the Switch is just so much more fun since it can be shared with others wherever you go.

I kinda considered getting a Switch. But i feel games are a bit too expensive for it, in general.

Yeah, that's fair. I like to browse DekuDeals every week for some decent offers though.

Yeah, buying digital is actually really nice. Should probably have bought a Switch afterall. Altho, i hope i will be satisified with my Wii too.

The SNES has several of my favorite games ever, so it wins easily.
The only thing I didn't like about it was how it would sometimes erase game saves.

Super Nintendo, some of my favorite games on there. Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country, Secret of Mana, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past...such a great system.

DS is the only Nintendo console that I care about and it's not on the list.

I always find "favorite console" discussions kinda funny because almost everyone interprets it as "Which console were your favorite games made for?" instead. Like, sure, the PS1 has a lot of good games, but why would you pick the PS1 when the PS2 is fully backwards compatible and has its own library of great games? Even discounting unofficial emulators and hacking, the Wii and Wii U had a bunch of NES games on virtual console, including some obscure ones like U-Four-ia: The Saga--heck, they have a version of StarTropics guaranteed to come with The Letter! Is it worth giving that up--and all their other games, both Virtual Console and original--for Takeshi's Challenge and Back to the Future?

That's why my pick is the (New) 3DS. Sure, it's not as powerful as the Switch, but on top of its own library and full DS backwards compatibility, it has something no other portable console has (except maybe the Virtual Boy): the 3D effect. I've lost count of how many good games have poor depth perception--especially 3D platformers when you have to jump over a chasm and your drop shadow disappears from view (worse when it doesn't even spawn over platforms due to an oversight or bug), but the 3D can help with that (EDIT: and practicality aside, the effect looks cool). Plus, the 3D allowed those 3D Master System games to show up on Virtual Console, on top of the usual smattering of NES, SNES (for New 3DSs), and GB games (and even a few GBA games for Ambassadors), none of which require a monthly fee or server access to keep playing. Admittedly, not all games do the 3D well, as I distinctly remember having issues in Gunman Clive 2's flying segment, but that's not the console's fault.

Went ahead and purchased a Switch too (yellow look) due to getting a decent price of it.
