Depends how you take independent, you can be financially independent not needing a man for his money, yet still need a man for a certain thing. Else why would any independent person ever still need someone else?

I know, but that's how it is. I even googled it to make sure that this is correct the way I wrote it. xD

I once read (or heard or something else) somewhere that it's a dialect thing, that in one of the dialects from the US double negatives don't nullify each other but instead sorta accentuate the negativeness (is that even a word?) just like it happens in other languages. Said dialect also apparently had an extra verbal tense that was kinda weird.

Ah right, I understand it now, English is so complicated. The right thing must be: Double negative = stronger way of negative (not positive like I thought).
So I don't need no man = I don't need ANY man.
