That song is constantly popping in my head...
And, wonderfully, the whole episode is available on YouTube!

Not my cup of tea, saw the winning entry and meh. Only song that I care to remember, and one I really like to listen to once in a while is Battiato and Alices Treni di Tozeur from 1984. They didn
t win, but holy shit, the winning song from that year is a nice example of how much of a complete and utter retarded shit show it is, in my opinion.
Treni Di Tozeur starts at 50secs

For most of my life I thought that genuinely good songs just didn't happen on Eurovision, and the best you could hope for was something with a fun vibe, or something hilariously bad - and then two years ago, this happened. An utterly heartfelt performance of a beautiful song by a genuinely talented artist, with understated and unpretentious staging. By far my favourite Eurovision act of all time. And, even more shockingly, it actually won. Kinda restored my faith in the show and the public who watch it :D

wow, I didn't even know it was being aired these days.. here in Italy the Eurovision isn't advertised at all, I don't even know if they air it on some tv channels.. no one knows it here ç_ç

My favorite was Norway, but I'm fine with the winner.

Nothing can ever beat the year when Lordi won 🤘
With that said, I don't care about Eurovision. It's too "political", I don't like most of the songs and to top it, my country keeps sending horrible losers who (unsurprisingly) never win >_<

It's a terrible show, but gives me a laugh. Missed it this year though.
My country won it 7 times in the past. They have been sending losers these past number of years and I'm not sorry about that. It costs a lot of money for a country to host Eurovision and a recovering economy doesn't need it.

Yeah, the rich get richer. That's all that is. When you have healthcare crisis, housing crisis and other bs going on in your country, you don't necessarily see this side of things. Not everyone benefits from that wealth. The many many multinationals who have their base in Ireland might contribute to those statistics you're seeing. It's never been a poor country, even throughout the recession, but it is not back to pre-recession Ireland. Not yet. Public funding is not there for things that matter, so why would we want it to go into hosting Eurovision. lol.
I think some other European countries might feel somewhat the same to be honest.

Only care for the end results, but seems to be taking a long time... been 44 years since we last won, and we might finally have a chance again winning this year.

[Edit] We won, and so close between Sweden and the Netherlands in the end..
