Other than the Logitech F710 and the Xbox 360 controller, what else is there that has at least 10ft of range with a table interfering. I had the F710 but the range sucked and lagged. I'm not sure about the 360 controller, hows the range on it? And is the dpad really that terrible?

The 360 has over a 10ft range, I am sure of that.

The dpad....is ok....just ok, I can pull off fighting game moves on it alright.

Can xpadder work with it? And is the range still fluid with walls and tables in the way? And I heard the analog sticks don't center so that the character slightly moves up by itself when you aren't doing anything.

Do the triggers squeak when you press it? I heard that's a problem too.

Not at all, my controller is 6 years old, no odd sounds coming from it, my analog sticks...look like they need to be replaced though...so worn down lmao.

Never had a problem with the triggers, even the one mentioned before has all of its buttons working perfectly

Mine is only 2/3 years oldl I think and the left triggers squeaks a bit when pressing slowly. Makes me remeber I hav to try to give it a bit of W40 to see if that lubricates it properly.

I had a gamepad that did that. The spring was scraping something inside. Rotated the spring and it didn't come into contact with anything, eliminating the squeaking. It returned eventually though, which was expected. Lube would help, but not forever. I don't have the controller anymore, but I would suggest putting some foam tape on the surface it's scraping against, if it is.

One of my friend has a box pad too but his is much older and already starting to open itself. I might have him let me take a look inside first to be sure :p

Thanks for the info though, it might come useful. It might be that as the squeaking is not permanent but comes from time to time.

I never had any issue with my character moving without me touching it and my 360 controller is like....6 years old now. Never tried xpadder, it works native with most games I play. Walls I am unsure...I do have tables in my way though, its a pretty strong signal though...unless they are crazy old style thick walls you probably will be ok, well you could always return it if it doesn't keep connection I suppose.

Its worth a shot, solid build control, at least Microsoft got that right, can't say the same for the 360 system...

The analog stick not centering isn't an issue with my two X360 wireless controllers, although I've heard of it before. Xpadder works with mine just fine, although for emulation you might want to use the stick instead of dpad whenever possible - especially for movement.

D-pad is eh, but its usable, guy above me basically defined it fantastically. You could play street fighter on it pretty easily, its just a little annoying. I don't really know why you would use it when the analog is right there though

So what's the issue with the dpad?

Its all one solid thing, rather than being 4 seperate buttons, and on the older controller models there isnt a whole lot of space between each of the 4 points so it feels a little funny doing fight game motions (QCF, DP, etc). As a whole its kinda stiff too but its usable

Wired controllers are nice if your setup lets you use one without getting in the way. No lag that way.

I've been using a wired Gravis gamepad sometimes. Still works, and I got one when this model was new. I've also heard about using a Sega Saturn controller with a USB conversion or USB adapter. I always meant to look into that, because I remember loving the Sega Saturn D-pad. Very nice.

As for wireless, I just use my F710. I have noticed some lag when I'm far enough from the dongle, but otherwise it performs well. How surprised were you when you saw your F710 on the ads for Big Picture Mode?

Wireless alternatives? If you like PS3 or 360 controllers, I hear you can use their controllers with a PC with minimal fuss.

The range of the F710 sucks. I'm 10ft away from the receiver with a small glass table in the way and the connection lags, and doesn't respond sometimes or gets stuck on a button/direction.

I agree with you at ten feet away, but I'm at my computer when I'm gaming, not ten feet away from my computer.

I prefer the Razer controllers, but I do wish they made a wireless version. If you want wireless 360, but better, visit evil controllers. They are decent.
