Dota 2 VS League of Legends

Here we go again...

Ive played League for over 2 years before switching to Dota2. So I think I got quite a good insight.

First of all both games are hard, dota is even harder to learn. League is easier because of these things:

1. Easier Mechanics (Dota2 has about 4 kinds of magic damage for example.)
2. League is on average level more forgiving. In Dota2 you will lose gold when you die or one misuse of your spell could lose your lane. On pro level I've got a feeling LoL snowballs way harder than Dota.
3. Dota's abilities are more diverse in comparison to LoL where you can find more spells you can compare.

The Communities: Both are kinda rough, but in my opinion the LoL community is way worse than dota2. Ive recently played some games of League again and its amazing how much kiddish behaviour there is. In Dota2 you do something stupid and you get flamed maybe, but in the end everyone play their game till end. In League the flamer or the flamed will start feeding and dont stop whining etc. The flame wars in LoL never ends in dota you flame in a minute everyone shut up again. I don't say that its because of the age only (myself started online playing when I was twelve), but the overall maturnity is way lower in League.

I switched to Dota2, because of various reasons. I've avoided the community aspect for myself by playing a lot with friends so this wasnt exactly my reason to quit. I was sick of Riots game design. I felt like I saw every champ already and a new champ every 2 weeks was too much. Noone can create so much content in so less time without dropping quality. For example if riot would have the balls back then to remove Flash the whole champ design would be much better. It felt like Riot made a design cage for themselves from which they can't escape.
Lets see Dotas Hero design: Every hero has something which makes him unique. Some spells are exactly the same, I dont deny it (Blink AM/QoP for example), but one thing is always special. It feels like every Hero in Dota2 got OP spells, but when everyone is OP it is balanced again.

The last point is the pro scene: There is always a Dota2 Tournament you can watch while League got less tournaments with usually higher price pools. While playing LoL I've watched always player streams which are almost nonexistent in Dota2.
Further while Valve sponsors only the main tournament of the year, Riot is involved in every tournament in LoL. Dota is much more community driven, while Riot likes it to obtain the controle.

One last thing which shouldn't bother you is that I got some personal dislikes against some of Riots behaviour which had no influence on the game.

Well, maybe you should think League of Legends is better?
I have a reason, maybe more

• LOL is free to play and Dota2 is a buy to play ^^
• Dota2 have large spam of free copies because he can't compete with LOL and still, LOL makes more money than dota2 has free to play game
• LOL is easier? really? try to start playing with someone of gold tier, even a silver and you will see if it is easy... Never is easy, for both games, what i think LOL has more comprehensive menus and explanations of items, builds, etc...
• By the way, you so many games like League of Legends and Dota2, you have Heroes of Newerth and Smite, they are all good in their ways and who plays LOL will say LOL is better and who plays Dota will defend dota as well... You can't say who's better you just have to play and see for yourself, not who's better but what game you really enjoy

League of Legends if you want to buy your heroes.
DotA 2 if you don't feel like unlocking/buying all heroes.

Rather play DotA 2 just because it's on Steam.

Played LOL once did not like it but Dota 2 is different it looks like Valve but serious effort to make it balanced. I was not a fan of RTS and MOBAs but when i first got Dota 2 everything changed.

I enjoy playing both.

Dota 2, it is more challenging than LoL.

i played LoL for the last 2-3 years. so im an ok player, and it looks easy to learn compared to dota2 (too lazy to even learn dota2). and a bit more light mood than the hardcore looking things in dota2

also i dont wanna sink another year into a single game (last games played was Dead Space and batman:AA)
