Thanks for the input :) However right now I'm leaning a bit more towards SCV since I just found out Tekken has neither a story mode nor a real character customization editor, which I am a sucker for.
Still, SCV also seems to be a much more difficult/beginner-unfriendly game as far as reviews go...

I've never played TT2, but I can tell you that SC is very beginner friendly. In my opinion it's super easy for anyone who is even half-decent at fighting games. And honestly, the less uptight gameplay in comparison to the last time I played Tekken... I think SC is something that a newbie would appreciate a lot more. Not to mention that the artistic direction is a lot nicer ( in my opinion).
I enjoyed SCV. Its character creation was kinda fun, if you at least enjoy making gigantically fat people with pink afros. Plus it's fairly neat to get to play as Ezio from AC2. And there are something like 5 guest characters from Tekken, if that kind of thing is interesting to you. I'd have appreciated some Lili as one of the guest characters though, but you can't have everything.

My opinion is pretty similar to Corwinn's. I haven't played Tekken Tag 2, but I've watched a lot of tourneys on it. Personally, I enjoy SCV's characters a lot more. If you enjoy character customization and are one of those people who will spend hours of their gameplay time on it, then I'd definitely recommend SCV. You'll probably be spending a lot of time trying to unlock new equipment for your character customization and have more of an objective to follow.
You could always play as Jin's soul from Tekken in SCV as well. I'm not sure how similar he plays to his Tekken counterpart though... perhaps it's completely different. But that could fulfill your fist-fighting character needs if that's what you're looking for.
Competitively... I'd say it shouldn't really matter which is easier in the end. Ideally you should go with the one you like more so that you come back to practice often. For casual play, it might help to ask your friends which they rather play. These games are always more fun with friends. I've had a lot of laughs playing SCV with friends and cousins. :P

Both are on sale right now on XBL, wanted to get a beat em up game for quite some time just to try one out/for fun.
I never really played any fighting games (except for Super Smash Bros) and was wondering if anyone can recommend one of those two games to a bgeinner.. They both seem to be pretty equal in quality as far as reviews go.
Also, I'll probably never play online since I figure I won't be able to compete, so it'd be single-player and the occasional couch match only.
Thanks for any answers :)
