I watched the old series, it was pretty big here so I'm interested in what the new series will bring. ^^

the event was great before and after the movie there were discussions about the series and david lynch work in general, the bar itself was great, really underground, they had a wonder boy arcade in the first floor :P
anyway sad you missed it, it was great

I'm not hyped, but I'll certainly watch it soon enough. I just have my doubts that it can be anywhere as iconic as the original series. The actors and the 90's optics just were too special

Yes, could be a disappointment.

But it's nice to see that almost everyone is back on their characters. And Lynch and Frost to direct and write.

That's why I prefer the sceptical approach. Just as with the USS Discovery, later this year. Don't make me cry with a disappointing Star Trek revival!

I still haven't watched season2 but some new David Lynch is always a plus in my book!

season 1 is good, very mysterious and strange, but season 2 makes it looks like a psychics show to explain for the paranormal things that happened, which breaks the premise of show. rather disappointing

They were forced by the network to unravel the mystery. Also, they didn't let Lynch to go full speed. They said that now they don't have a family hour show, so they can do whatever they want. This could be rather good or insanely bad. Lets see what happen.

Hm... This makes me wonder if removing Alan Wake from stores today was really just part of the campaign to hype people up for the release of whatever this is... new season of a Twin Peaks Netflix reboot/reimagining, I'm guessing.. don't have the time right now and can't be bothered to try to figure out.

I cannot say I am very hyped, but I am quite interested in this new release. I do not expect much though. For me even season 2 was not already good enough comparing to season 1. Those first 8 (if I remember correctly) episodes were incredibly classy, as well as one of the answer options in the poll. Damn good cup of coffee. Damn, that is so authentic and cool.

I haven't watched or even heard of the original series and the teasers I watched for this one almost put me to sleep. So not hyped at all. Won't even watch unless a friend with similar tastes as mine recommends it.

I am cautiously optimistic since most reboots/revivals are never quite what they are cracked up to be.

HYPED? HYPED?? IM BINGE REWATCHING EVERYTHING ON LOOP DRINKING COFFEE ALL THE WAY
(no pie because no pies around here. im sad)

I have great hopes for the new take but with sensible expectations; I know half of the mood and texture won't be there because its impossible - something that would only be obtainable in the 90s with older cameras and the younger characters...
...but at the same time i expect improvements on both in other aspects.

Just think about it:
-they know the mistakes they made (and season 2 of course) for decades now- having time to let a lot of stuff sink and cook

-The series didn't had the cult status it grew to nowadays back then; Lots of elements that are unique and the strongest in the series weren't what the broadcast nor the authors expected (i suppose lynch found the kind of reception he wished years later more then on first airing) - more importantly not what was front and center in the original pitch, drafts, and so on.
Meaning now they have a greater understanding of what are the secret ingredients that made the show so timeless and cultuated - and im sure they will up the dosage on that; Only risk is overdosing it.

-Full carte blanch this time for both creators. When did it happened before?
Moreimportantly it isn't only about limits tv producers prompted back in the day- but also the very self-imposed limits the authors themselves had. Any creator have in mind their audience, their expectations and limits- its almost unavoidable- so even what they wanted and expected was to a point limited by their realistic grasp of audiences and what/where they could push. They pushed the envelope a lot- but im certain there were ideas and scenes tought of but that never made it to the paper because 'that wouldn't work'... back then. Not today.

-They're both more mature and experienced

-The chance even if slight of it being a pusher and inovator landmark of media again; You know, new stuff, pushing new boundaries

-It will certainly appeal to a more introspective nostalgia (familiarity with the series in particular) then a encompassing one (the timeless 50s-90s blend of Twin Peaks); Surely it will have a renewed nostalgic blend of decades but not that one.

-It will certainly have a more misterious and creep/strange mood; Not entirely, i mean, im sure the humor and non-humor uniqueness will remain to some extent. But its a sure bet they will go with the unexplainable, strange and unsettling as major hooks to the mistery and or misteries:
The trailers show that a lot, as well as promo images
Hundreds, thousands of mistery/police/strange/unexplainable shows and movies since- not to mention the plethora inspired by it.
It takes more now to make a mistery as refreshing and hookable as Lara Palmer's. Sure any mistery at that town with those folk and these authors will be interesting but they can't just recycle the same plot like new star wars did nor make a completely uturn to something completely new- we're talking diehard fans who want more of the old afterall. So uping the ante on the obscure, innefable and borderline paranormal (in a subtle and unique way they know how) becomes the most sure fire tool they have for a spicy new mistery to catch on.

-Its very hard to fail when most fans will love it anyway even if its meh just because ALL THE FOLKS ARE BACK!!!!! (runs naked in the street screaming)

-Its Lynch

and... well, its lynch.

My household is covered. I like the freaky David lynch scenes, my wife hates them. She likes the "normal" scenes, I tend to find them boring with the exception of some of the banter. My daughter (who has watched the original series) just wanted Coop to come back. She jumped up on the couch for the latest episode "He's BAAAAACK".

Overall, we're happy with the season, but I think I will be the saddest to see the return come to an end.
