I have no idea. I am only familiar with the reversal of this problem, having installed the spectator client won't let you join giveaways of dota anymore.
Maybe it's a Mac related problem? I'd suggest asking on Steam forums.
Edit: Installing it seems like a great suggestion. ;)

A while back, I won a copy of Dota 2. Unfortunately, it seems that Dota 2 is not in my games list on Steam, but it is in my library in the Steam app. What should I do about that? I can still enter Dota 2 giveaways because my steam profile says I don't have Dota 2, even though I do. Syncing my account doesn't help with this issue either. Any advice?
