So, I am curious on where most of the GA games come from. I can't imagine people are running around spending real life money on completely garbage games to give out on this website - and I find it hard to believe that the majority of people are spending $60 on a new AAA titles to give them away to strangers (in a public GA).

I have been purchasing all of my GA games so far but I am new and don't know all the tricks of the trade just yet. I would love to find out how others are doing it - especially if you are giving away non bundled games in private groups.

Where do you get your GA games from?

View Results
Steam (Summer/Winter/Etc) Sales
Other website sales
I trade CS:GO keys (or other games) for them
Humble Bundle Extras
I re-gift games I receive from friends
I buy them straight out (and get cash back on my credit card)
I get extra keys in exchange for an 'honest' review

there's a site called Tremorgames where you can buy games in exchange of Tremor coins. Besides that, mostly sales from some sites such as Green Man Gaming

Where do you get your games from anyway? :)

I purchase the bulk of my games through the humble bundle store for the charity contribution.

  1. Bundle leftovers.
  2. Sales, steam or other. Sometimes I "cheat" and buy somewhere where you get both drm-free and steam key, I use the drm-free myself and gift the steam key :3

Except for the very last part :D

There shouldn't be any problem with that, the Steam key is the only thing with value, hence why SG only accepts the key.
A DRM-free version could just as well be pirated etc.

I'm not saying it's a problem, I just don't like doing that. If HB provides both versions, I'll activate the steam key. I just like having everything in one place.

bundles bundles bundles. As far as I know the people giving out AAA games are actually paying for it though. No real way around that unless they are master at trading

There are ways to mitigate it though. If you're lucky, or persistent, you can find boxed copies cheap

Its not buying garbage, most of them are leftovers that buyer dont need. Like look new bundle with 5 games but i want only 2 of them, what to do with other 3? Giveaway it here. If someone buying good games or rlly good games to just give it away... hm.. idk why maybe they like make happines to other pipolz :)

Basically I buy games on trusted sites/Steam, usually during some sales but from time to time also for a full price if the game is not very expensive. Sometimes I create giveaways for bundle leftovers. Unfortunately I don't do AAA giveaways cos I simply don't have money for that. I'm trying to put some quality on my giveaways though so I often create giveaways for well respected games or hidden gems I find interesting.

Bundles, sales, trades & cheap boxed copies are my usual ways of getting games.

Leftovers from bundles, mostly.
During big sales (winter and summer), I try to find some of my favorite games on sale to purchase an extra copy, and share a game that's really touched my heart to some people here:)

Tremorgames, and that isn't in the poll, and sometimes a friend has a leftover and if i already have it too i am allowed to gift it here.
And in the past by selling cards and wait for sales.

If you decide to try tremor games, be wary of what you do to earn coins. Download offers can contain spyware or malware. Tremor Games will take no accountability for issues that arise since the offers are provided by 3rd party advertisers and such. My advice is to stick to surveys, videos, sign ups and 1 click offers unless you know how to setup virtual drives to protect from infection.

Edit: Also note offers will not be credited if you use ad block. Need to disable when doing stuff.

Well, I either buy them directly from steam or I trade tf2/cs:go keys for them.

Majority of games I've given on here so far I earned through tremor games by doing surveys, but I do my best to find games that at least appear enjoyable, or have good reviews. Other then that, bundle extras I get from Humble Bundle or Bundle Stars. Odds of me doing big giveaways anytime soon are slim, I need to get a steady job again first.

I voted for "Humble Bundle Extras" since bundles are pretty much where I get them from. Not just from Humble Bundle, but all similar sites as well. :) Sometimes I also get them from TremorGames, but that is rather rare these days.

For my AAA, giveaways I utilize steam sales or Humble bundles.

For others, I purchase games on tremorgames using my CS:GO+ TF2 items as an exchange.

There certainly are some people 'spending real life money on completely garbage games' when these games are unbundled and on discount.

Personally when I was new to the site I often bought games to gift (that's what brought me to SG). Nowadays I mostly gift games I have multiple copies of due to bundles or other reasons (Square Enix surprise boxes, GMG random games).

All I see is lies, we all know that you all buy at G2A/Kinguin only ;))
To be serious I get most my sfuff from reliable bundle sites/Steam sales or other sites I trust in rare occasions :]

I gift bundle leftovers. I might buy games outright for GA purposes if I were in a group/had enough friends on SG.

Mostly bundle leftovers (those are rare now that I don't buy EVERY gala, groupees and similar bundles and have restricted myself to some of HIB/Bundlestars), HumbleStore/Bundlestars store/GMG purchases meant to be given away, Steam gifts bought for the same reason.
