I personally use Pinnacle Game Profiler, but you'll find other solutions, even free ones. As I got it in a very good deal, I don't regret buying it. It even helps me have extra buttons when a game does not use the gamepad the way I want it.
Ah, you can even control windows with PGP.

Xpadder FTW. I use it for emulators, remote controller for media, and web browsing from the couch (mouse on analog stick, browser key shortcuts on controller buttons).

After trying some things, this is what I ended up going with. Some of the other programs have better mouse options, but in-general Controller Companion is pretty slick. It has very well-thought-out features to disable itself when it isn't needed, and its version of keyboard support is pretty cool.

Thanks guys. I'm probably going to try several of those out.

I'm looking for a way to use my pad (and Xbox 360 wireless controller) with older games that don't have built-in support. What's the best software for this?
I'd also be interested in ways of using the D-pad for mouse input in-general. I play on using my new gaming system from the couch, and if I could do most of what I needed to with the pad it would be nice.
