I went with No Man's Sky, for now, but I already did last year, so I don't know.
Hello Games came a long way since it first release.

I played the game in early 2020, between the Living Ship and Exo Mech updates and it was already very good imo. If you played it before 2020 you should definitely try again now.

I dump a lot of time playing the game on release and encounter some fun and weird bug lol. But still, I totally enjoy the game even the feel of loneliness in vast universe is very strong.

Nowaday I'm just do expedition and some weird base building stuff lol. Totally enjoying the game!

I wanted to nominate The Great Ace Attorney for everything :(
I guess GOTY would do

I think a GOTY vote for it would be a waste, even though I 100% agree it's game of the year. I put it in best storytelling, if it doesn't win there people have no taste.

Is the game that good ? I haven't play it. I still remember when Capcom showed the trailer on E3 and most of the comments were just bashing it, said that it looks boring lol

I'm a fan of the Ace Attorney games. And yeah, chatrooms on E3 conferences and such tend to be bad so I don't pay much attention, but surely this type of game is not for everyone

Not important.
It's rigged from the begin. In the end the known games win... not worth the time to vote in a serious way.

I used a very special voting system....
I typed a/b/c/d in the search field and pick one of the appearing ones.
I don't looked for the category or something else.

Lol, that's a way to do it 😝

True. There were some games I wanted to pick but they are not on the list for a certain reward while being on the list for some other.

In the end you can't really pick what you want.

I'm curious - what games you wanted to pick but couldn't?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Looks like you can't pick the games that appear ignored in your shop.
For example I added some tags to ignore a while ago, and when I tried to add a game I know is ignored because of 1 tag, it wouldn't let me pick the game. So I removed that tag and now it worked.

Edit: Also, I checked the faq, and you can't pick winners from previous years like Warframe, GTA V, CSGO etc

No, because the game must have been released in 2021.

Ah ok the game I wanted to pick was from 2019...

Man the time flies...

I don't think it's rigged. Majority will vote for some over-hyped games anyway. But I'm agree that one vote won't matter because of that.

GOTY - Nioh 2, even though my real GOTY is Paradise Killer, but it's from last year so...
VR GOTY - Dagon, apparently this had VR support, which is convenient since I don't own VR equipment
Labor of Love - Stardew Valley, I usually alternate between this and Tales of Maj'Eyal
Better with Friends - I have none
Outstanding Visual Style - Why must we select games from the current year, this is stupid
Game I suck at - Nioh 2 so it's no longer GOTY, but I still can't vote for Paradise Killer
Best Sountrack - Youtube
Outstanding Story - The best stories stand the test of time and usually aren't from the current year
Sit back and relax - Unpacking, because I couldn't vote for Devil Daggers

Total 4/10 votes. Which is fine by me since I don't want to ruin my profile with the level 2+ badges.

I nominate Stardew Valley for Labor of Love every year, but it never makes the cut :( Concerned Ape really deserves it since he works on all the updates himself and they're all free.

I only played like two games that were released this year so my nominations were all gay furry stuff.

Don't play a lot of games from 2021 this year, and except for the VR category, I only nominated games I have played at least a little ... so it was not easy...

I do need a full list of games that came out on steam 2021; at elast AA and AAA, I really dont know/remember all the games that came out this year.

Yeah, that would help a lot. Do you know any way to browse the store by year? I tried to use the interactive recommendations in the steam Labs, but it kinda sucks.

SteamDB has a list of "Most Ranked" for 2021 and also just a list of all titles from 2021

I choose the same VR game, and I was wondering where to vote for Deathloop.
Very nice selection.

As with last time, I have absolutely no clue which games came out this year. Nor is there any chance I'd have played any of them if I knew which ones they were...

Oh well, I'll just vote Terraria for Labor of Love (again) and pick some random suggested games (preferably ones that don't horribly suck) for the other categories. Not like it ever matters. :D

It seems it's possible to vote for OpenTTD even in the 2021 categories as it came to the Steam Store this year. Will probably nominate it in Labor of Love though, the devs absolutely deserve it.

my picks. some serious, some "meh whatever".

Here are my picks!
I'm glad to see Stardew Valley still getting so much LOVE from the community ;D I really believe it deserves that labor of love spot.
By the way, I've never played the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but I may have to for dat soundtrack! If you like rock music, it's an instant win!
Of course, as a massive ME simp, I had to vote on the Legendary edition for GOTY, I'm hoping for a long, bright future for that series!
I didn't really know what to use for most innovative gameplay because I haven't really played a lot of new games and nothing really stands out as 'new' to me but someone else suggested DEATHLOOP, so my vote is for you random steam person!
