Okay, what game would you love if it didn't crash as often as it does?

For me, it is Fallout New Vegas. Without the 4GB-aware patch, that thing and Fallout 3 crashed every hour for me. Even before getting the modded exe files, I still had a good time.

Another is Lord of the Rings Online. I don't play it currently, but I suggested it to my mom and heard her say it was crashing. Yep, crashed often for me as well. None of the suggested fixes from their forums worked.

Oblivion. For some reason it would crash once every few hours of game play so I became OCD with my saving. That quick save became my friend.

It's compatible for me- what sort of problems do you have? I use Win 7.

It crashed at least once an hour for me. Still I managed to play it like 90 hours. Amazing game :)

Just curious, for everyone who's having a problem, what are your PC specs?

If the hardware can't handle the game, it'll crash.

Hotline Miami - was fine, then suddenly started crashing at startup. Think it was from an update. Might be fixed now, but it was frustrating enough for me to move on to other games.

This is exactly how I feel about New Vegas right now. I need to do a clean install and really limit the mods I use.

But I also feel this way about Skyrim. Bethesda and Obsidian make some really great games, but they're just too damn buggy with all the mods out there. There hasn't been any explanation for Skyrim CTDs and freezes because there are so many possible reasons :( Mods need to be more strictly controlled and optimised, in particular when being placed on the Steam workshop. There should be a validation procedure.

Suffice it to say, I'm thoroughly upset that I can't enjoy these amazing games with the amazing mods that really enhance the experience.

Timeshift was a pretty good game if it wasn't for all the crashing

Hotline Miami. I beat it after a few hours of numerous gaming sessions, though at least half those sessions ended in a game crash. It's linked to an audio bug that's exacerbated on Windows 8.

Minecraft Free version crashes a lot, however I don't really like that game. Fallout 3 runs fine, hardly crashes, same for tf2 and L4D2.

OP, can you link me to the stuff you use to get it running properly? I just got it myself and am having some trouble. Thankfully I've already got hundreds of hours in on the Xbox version so I haven't missed out.

FO34GB and FNV4GB. Both are available at www.nexusmods.com

These four video guides may be of further assistance.

Skyrim. I can't even get it to run past an hour. -.- Also, New Vegas, but I got it to run for long periods of time before the 30-hour mark.

I remember early after the release of New Vegas there was a problem where the quicksave didn't work properly and that coupled with the frequent crashes resulted in me doing many more hard saves than I normally would have.

Gothic 1 and 2 have a bug that messes with the graphics, it happens to me after about 30-40 minutes of gameplay every time I play it, you can still continue to play and save the game but it's really annoying and you need to restart the game to get rid of it. The GoG version has the same problems also. It's the main reason I still haven't finished Gothic 2
