Back when Deadpool was on the store for the first time and russian versions were not all region locked, I had a trader friend sell me the game for 4 TF2 keys. When I applied it to my library, it showed a (RU) tag and I was worried that it would be locked, but then I played it and had no problems!
As long as it activates, it'll work. If the game is region-locked for playing it'll automatically notify you and prevent the redemption of the key.
