I feel that you shouldn't worry too much. People throw insults on internet easily because of the anonimity. If the insults gets to you, you are actually giving the "win" to the one insulting you.

I would certainly need a dictionary if I were to try and write a review in my non-native language, and I think many others would, too.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sure, but why not write in your own language?
Because barely any people can be reached in my own language. I learnt English to use it, I play games in English because I'm fucking bored that any discussion of a game in Hungarian goes through at least two translations and it murders the original intent and form of the game. And people (including me and OP) are using dictionaries as they were intended to be used "when looking for a specific word". It's kind of mandatory to look out for new words if you want to learn more, and better express yourself, I don't understand what does this gatekeeping approach serves.

I know particularly well it's sometimes very difficult to stay positive in situations like these. I had a similar issue at work, with a colleague (in another country) insulting me because i did not help enough (which was both true and false, but this is not the subject). I did not react, and now that some weeks have passed since then, i feel i did the good thing.
But during these weeks, i felt angry and wanted to answer he was a pos, i wanted that someone else intevened to defend me (which for sure did not happen). I felt ashamed being insulted. And this was very difficult to handle.
So let me say this (even if this is not so helpful), it's not particularly internet , it's people. Internet amplifies the phenomenon because it sets some distance between people (it's easier being rude to people behind a screen than face to face), but it can still happen IRL.
So try to enjoy people's company here (at least the ones deserving it), and ignore the others.
At the very least, i feel for you.

I think you should expand TL:DR section of the review. It's hard to find review helpful if you just wrote that you don't recommend it and actual reason is described on the forum. One sentence should be enough - TL:DR: save system is messed up, devs won't fix it.
Keep in mind that most of the people will ignore links to "full review", whether on forum or youtube or other places.
Also as somebody who grew up while internet was developing I learned that it's not a "safe space". Chance of encountering hostile people is 100%. No matter what you do. It's normal.
I read your review and this guys response. He clearly has a problem with your review. And lets be honest - there are problems with your review (f.e. you posted it on forum, also it's too long). The problem is, that instead giving you constructive criticism, he insulted you without pointing out what's wrong. In the same time he also attempted to look cool by telling that he doesn't care - which is obvious lie. I mean - if he didn't care - then why he posted that mind vomit under your post?
TL:DR in order to use internet without issues - grow thicker skin and don't give attention to rude people. Getting you attention is their only goal and worst punishment is to ignore them.

You are right, people should behave better. But considering that you know how people act and how it hurts you, what other choice do you have but to adapt?
About your review: While it would be nice to see fixes for old games, it's also quite unrealistic. Especially not considering the huge issues of their latest release. You can hardly argue that it would make sense to shift resources to a six-year-old game in such a scenario and your complaints about 'old money' indeed felt like rambling.

I write a review only for games which are exceptionally good in my view or have some glaring issues I deem noteworthy enough to inform other players. I try to be short and straight to the point as attention span is rather short nowadays. No point in writing a novella.
Concerning insults "The Moon doesn't care for barking dogs."

One common thing mentioned in the thread is that my review is too long. I know it. It's a limitation I was never able to overcome.
I'm unable to write things briefly. I need to explain all my thoughts and it leads to those long walls of text.
If someone doesn't want to read it because it's too long, it's ok. But I wrote the review I wanted. And, this part is important, I wrote the review in the only way I am able. Some people say that (speaking) I express myself very well due to that. But they don't realize until later that it is my only way to express things.

I'm sure developers appreciate reading your in-depth thoughts! Would you consider contacting them directly in order to avoid dumb comments? People will always have a different opinion that is different from yours and some people are just rude about it.

Meh, don't buy the "review is too long" stuff if I'm honest. Write as much as you need, and those that want to read it will. However, sometimes we can ramble a bit, but I think a bit of rambling on about why you liked or disliked a game, if done with a little sauce, can be a fun read. You just have to know how to fit it in your review so it doesn't break its flow. And I prefer to read the thoughts on a game that take up all the Steam Review character limit, even if it's "amateruish" and the person is "repeating themselves." At least you tried to express your feelings and thoughts about the game, which is more than I can say for those lame-ass meme/jokes or two sentence reviews that don't even tell me anything about the game.
Also, take note that as you write more, you'll get better at "shortening" your thoughts and making the text flow better. Nobody was born perfect.

You know, if having to choose, I would rather read a extremely long review like yours than a single one-word review like most people do.
Well, I would also recommend https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/S33ri/i-wrote-a-steam-review-and-i-got-1-person-found-this-helpful-and-another-persons-insults#5XkL2Qq this advise

The game's totally not my cup of tea (which is why I can't say much about how accurately you presented it in your review), but this topic piqued my interest. I think maybe there's a character limit in the review section for a reason, I'm not really a fan of the conclusion - people are going to buy whatever they want to play, and that's it.
That being said, the person who commented on your post contributed absolutely nothing. You called it a hard insult, so I was afraid they used a slur; thankfully not the case. Still, I get why it made you feel bad. I also don't contribute much in public online spaces nowadays from fear of being misunderstood. I'm sorry about your five months of bad hair days and I hope you find relief from them soon.

Oh my lord that response was so mild I can't believe you are this mad. You are the problem.

The trick is to find joy in writing itself, not what others think of it. I'm also sure there was a bunch of people that read that review and enjoyed it, but didn't say anything. That's just how it goes.
As for the insult itself... offense is taken, not given. So just let it go, it really doesn't matter. I'm sure you know that, but you still let it bother you. I'm sorry to say it, but that's on you. We can't control the world around us when it comes to things like this, we can only control only how we respond to it. And in cases like this the correct response is simply to shrug, forget it and move on.

I hear you, JMM72, and it’s completely understandable that you’re angry and upset. There’s no excuse for this person’s behavior; he could’ve easily ignored your post and moved on. Unfortunately, that’s not the world we live in. I think some people also forget that there are real people with emotions behind these posts.
I’m so sorry that you’re having a hard time right now. I wish I knew what else to say, but I’m in a similar spot. I guess we just have to take it one day at a time.

personally i dont mind long reviews on steam, they tend to give me the insight im looking for be it good or bad compared to the bare minimum. it all comes down to structure and yours was educational! i think a better way to go about it would be doing the format others use which is doing bullet points for each category and then a TLDR with an optional redirect link to their full review if there is one.
e.g (super simple to demonstrate what i mean)
👍
the good:
the bad:
tldr: buy this game on sale; for my full review read (link here).
that way both parties benefit, and the key things are upfront for ease.
remember this quote: "dont take criticism from someone you wouldnt take advice from."

Sad that happened with you. There's no way to please the haters. So,I would say just move past.Someone blacklists me,I'm like:"no problem kiddo, you did what you wanted, your choice.I'll do what I want:move past it." You worry too much man.I didnt even read your whole explanation,I honestly just glanced at it and I was like:"Steam bros were mean to yet another guy".I mean I got a Jester award and I'm cool with it.Atleast someone saw my review. So,thats cool.
Note:I did actually read your whole discussion but just a glance was enough to understand what Steam Bros had done....again.

It sucks, but that's what happens when you share something with others. There are people who just want to shit on others for one simple reason—it brings them joy to belittle you. But I will say this, one nice comment always meant more to me than any of the stupid lame jokes or insults people may leave bc they didn't like what (or how) I wrote what I did. If you're enjoying this (writing), then don't let people with ill intentions ruin your time. And I know this is easier said than done, but the mindset that helped me was to adopt Apu Nahasapeemapetilon's "Thank you, come again" approach when dealing with such people. Why give these people the time of your day?

It sounds like you wrote the review for all the wrong reasons.
IF I write reviews at all, which is very rarely these days, it's not to get recognition or stickers or positive comments. In fact I don't even think I have ever enabled comments on my reviews, because I don't care what others think(good or bad) about MY experience with the game.

"While the game is good and fun, specially at first, all the annoyances, softlocks and bugs kinda ruined what could have been a near perfect gaming experience. An escapism that I'm in severe need now."
As far as the review goes, it's closer to an essay than a review and not because of the length. You turned emotional towards the game and your negative is because you are pissed. A game could be 90% but because X thing annoyed you then it's a negative. That's how it reads. Not that you are wrong on the things you say, but they don't necessarily outweight the 90%. And in the end, it's an article over why the company sucks and how gamers are treated while using the game as an example instead of a review.
You also have a tendency to generally focus on the negative and forget what made you happy (in all your reviews and the majority of your comments that I have read)
"The difference is that I don't make others pay for my mood, nor I consider the internet distance barrier a good reason to behave disrespectfully. Unlike these inmature people. The difference is that I have a thin skin for this stuff.
So, rationally, I know I don't deserve the insult, the feeble attempt from this user should be ignored, and all that. But emotionally, I started the day with a direct punch to the face."
People do the same in real life. He wasn't in a mood.. He just wanted to appear "cool" and failed. It wasn't even a real insult and yes, you have thin skin.. Imo, it doesn't bug you that he insulted you, it bugs you that you didn't get a positive comment from someone. A "yeah, fuck them! good job telling them!" sort of comment
I would suggest a smaller medium for such a discussion than steam forums. A small discord server, here even, a friendly chat etc

As I said here in SG twice at least, the only way to not get blacklisted in SG is... Doing nothing. Not even entering a giveaway. Not posting any comment. Not saying thanks, or saying thanks.
In Steam it's the same. I usually don't have the motivation to actually write a review, and certainly not this long. 13,000 characters, 2,300 words, frequently stuck because I forgot how to say whatever word in english (a little win for me - I didn't have to use the dictionary at all). But Steam's review limit is 8,000 characters. So I posted the review in the general forum of the game, as I wanted to say all I wrote without cutting anything. And then wrote a review with a link to the forum post, and my conclusion.
I wrote the review because after some problems with the game, this weekend a softlock made me lost several hours of effort, some items and whatnot, and activated a severe bug that the company has stated is not going to fix, because their efforts are focused in the next iteration of the franchise; a game which in turn has been probably abandoned too because there's now a new iteration of the franchise.
While the game is good and fun, specially at first, all the annoyances, softlocks and bugs kinda ruined what could have been a near perfect gaming experience. An escapism that I'm in severe need now. But it was all ruined this weekend, and I needed to vent out. All I wrote was either a proven fact, or stated as personal opinion. Well, maybe in some parts I was opinionated. I was more disappointed than angry. And I wrote all my thoughts about current big companies behaviour to leave customers abandoned after milkiing us all they were able to. And how the state of the game made it a not recommended thing from me.
And then I don't know how many were patient to read my wall of text (like this one), but I got one positive feedback. Maybe the user will end getting the game, but at least, as a gamer, they know where they're getting to. Or maybe the user already have the game and is agreeing with my statements in general.
The other, well, you can block comments in reviews, it's the default, but I posted it in the forum, so of course I can get comments. And I forgot to not subscribe to that thread, so this morning I got a notification from Steam, just a short sentence with "I don't care about your ramblings" and an insult (which is slang and had to look up; pretty hard insult IMHO). My guess (once again, a maybe) is that the user saw that I wasn't recommending their favourite game of the moment and had that reaction. Or maybe the user started to read the review but when I started with the bad stuff, went all apeshit because my opinion was not the same as theirs. Or who knows, bad hair day?
My problem is that I'm in my fifth month of bad hair days. The difference is that I don't make others pay for my mood, nor I consider the internet distance barrier a good reason to behave disrespectfully. Unlike these inmature people. The difference is that I have a thin skin for this stuff.
So, rationally, I know I don't deserve the insult, the feeble attempt from this user should be ignored, and all that. But emotionally, I started the day with a direct punch to the face. Rationally I know that what I did made me vulnerable to attacks and I accepted it; emotionally I feel I'm at the opposite side of deserving something like this. Rationally I know I should pass page and continue normally; emotionally I know this is going to bug me for a week at least. That's why, in the last years, I've become increasingly less and less active in Internet, and also in my social life.
Does this user deserve to be reported? Yes, damn it. You can't go in a forum insulting people. But people do it, because they know that even if they're reported, in places like Steam, or even here, there are big chances that nothing will happen. In Steam, that's almost for sure.
More or less that's all I wanted to say about the incident. I just wanted to mention it, put it in words as a way to deal with it; and yes I feel better after telling since now I rarely talk to any of my friends, and most of them wouldn't understand what's a Steam review or a game forum. I'm not making myself a victim, at least I hope I got that right. I'm not asking for "help" and go there and defend me somehow (tho often I want to scream for help cuz I can't deal with many of these situations...) I thought of including a poll but I don't know what to put in it. So if you have something to say, go ahead, I'd gladly read any comments which don't include insults or aren't disrespectful. I'm not going to blacklist anyone because they have a differing opinion, attitude or stance about this.
(I'm not including a link to my review or the post. If you're interested, it's not that hard to find. Very easy actually.)
And to finish: insults are like gifts. They are yours, you offer them to someone, but if that someone doesn't accept them, they're still yours.
Edit and closure:
I was writing something that I think it was pretty good for closing this thread, when I lost power, brown out, all I wrote lost. Honestly I don't have the energy to write everything again so I'll try to be, for once, brief, telling only the what and not the why.
