a genius!

from here: https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/10/banksy-painting-self-destructs/

"According to The Art Newspaper, a copy of Banksy’s iconic “Girl with Balloon” painting was auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York City on Friday night.
However, almost immediately after the record-setting bid of $1.1 million was announced aloud, an alarm was triggered inside the frame and proceeded to shred the painting to pieces."

“It appears we just got Banksy-ed,” said Alex Branczik, the auction house’s head of contemporary art, Europe, immediately after the sale.

Interesting, what makes something "worth" to you?

Personally I agree, but for being a one-of-a-kind item alone I think any price goes. Rare things are rare things.

was showerthinking: that's not a rare thing. it's unique. but then, he shred it. so, is that thing even more unique?

ok, ok... nevermind :P

Well... if it's unique, it's like the ultimate rarity XP

I guess shredding it makes it more unique because no one else probably went to the same kinda effort? 🤔

He also filmed the Empire State Building doing nothing for eight hours. Wonders never cease.

Some acquaintance once hit me up for money for his experimental art collective “like Andy Warhol”.
My response was less than pleasant

thanks!

was really excited, 2 weeks ago. and Bansky was "a genius". People are still talking about it, tho, and more infos are available.

so, after two weeks, my view of Bansky switched from "genius" to "marketer" and i do agree with video top comment:

Very good marketing idea. I am sorry banksy, but you are part of the game.

was technically -nearly- impossible Sotheby's wasn't aware of this. Video confirmed all "suspects" people had about it. I really don't like it, it truly sounds like "look what i've done!", or just like an ad. a plain little sad one, also. Plus, imho, video ends in a very (but very) pathetic way.

from genuis to marketer. "Father" Godin (sethgodin.com) used to say the truth: "all marketers are liars". And, after years, i do still strongly agree with him :P
