I finally snapped one day, and this is what flowed forth from the darkest depths of my soul.

There hasn't been a single reference to WW2 other than the tank designs associated to the characters, either on kickstarter, greenlight, or the steam page- and apparently non-WW2 tank designs are used as well, so even that isn't a solid thing.

On the other side, games DIRECTLY use WW2 as a casual, easily-dismissed design point [See: Nearly every FPS ever made], so- if you're boycotting them as well, then I respect your commitment, but if not, then either your outlook is utterly ludicrous or there's a content statement you ought post for us to consider.

This game could be a terribly bad blend of bad jokes, weak story, and over-sexualization- or it could be an amusingly self-aware parody of VNs and anime.

But right now there's no reason whatsoever to assume that it'll even have the depth to make fun of actual historical events, much less even have a setting even vaguely related to anything historical.

While I respect the divergence of opinions in this thread- even if people seem to be jumping a bit too eagerly one way or another with how little info is given- you seem to want to hate it, just to hate it :X

This game is parodying World War II and current events, not to mock the sacrifice of the people who died, but to point out some of our opinions on how Japan treats World War II today. If you look at Japanese History books, they rarely treat the war with the full weight of the horrors it inflicted with any level of awareness. The entire writing team, myself included, are avid World War II historians, and dedicate our free time doing historical reenactment events for veterans, families, and schools.

If you look at most WW2 games out there, you'll see it boils down to "We good, they bad, have gun, go be hero". People come away from those games with extremely simplistic views about the conflict as a result of being constantly spoon fed what amounts to basically propaganda games. There's no context for the events depicted in most modern shooters, and far too many kids finish playing the game without having learned anything, but thinking that what they experienced in the game was 'real'.

There's no way someone could mistake Panzermadels for 'real'. But far too many people are still being fed one-sided views of the conflict that fail to account for the vast number of different nations, peoples, and ideologies that were involved in the largest conflict in human history.

I hope you take the chance to play our game, and that you will see what we were going for with it. By no means is it a perfect game, and I'm sure there's someone far more respected than ourselves who could raise awareness better, but I like to think that we did a pretty good job.

The developer is based out of Phoenix, Arizona- just saying.

I dunno, Russia already has theme parks based around tanks, and there's enough weird pictures of people being overly affectionate with their vehicles on the internet as is.

Sorry, I downvoted you on Greenlight. I apparently need someone to be built like a tank before they catch my interest. :(

Tabletop Simulator and Yandere Simulator are the only two I can think of that really stand out thus far.
Well, and Ant Simulator, but that turned out less than ideally.. :X..

If you want to stop the simulator train, you should purchase train simulator and derail all the cars.
