The Tories banned whole bunch of shit in porn, games, etc. - bravely assuming there's a market for porn featuring fake tans and Scouse accents. But it was overturned pretty swiftly because while it targeted some stuff you could at least argue was reasonable, where kink starts to veer towards torture, it also went for stuff that they dreamt up a moral objection to like watersports, facesitting and insanely female ejaculation.
But getting to laugh at the right-wing having zero game is always fun, so it wasn't a total loss.

This sounds like that thing where (US) payment processors - manipulated by religious groups - demanded Steam remove games. It isn't a UK thing as far as I'm aware. The only UK thing I'm aware of is the age verification via credit card.

No, sadly it was a real, actual thing debated in parliament and passed into law, documented in Hansard for future generations to laugh at. Onlyfans (also a UK company) did seperately also get bitchslapped by payment processors and tried to go SFW to keep them happy but IIRC that lasted all of a week.

Yeah it's just Imgur. From what I read it's not to do with the age verification thing, rather some UK watchdog had fined Imgur over some other child protection thing. Imgur just went nahhh (though of course that might have been partly because they knew the age verification was coming too).
