Hello, everyone. I was wondering, have any of you heard or read about this game ?

Realms Beyond Kickstarter Trailer

This is looking great already, an old school party-based RPG, turn-based combat system on a hex grid, D&D 3.5 rules set, a fully explorable world map (including sea) with points of interest having their own maps, multiple ways to solve quests, a lot of interactivity thanks to the game's engine, not to mention a powerful editor/toolest to make your own campaigns/maps.

The project went largely under the radar and didn't receive much coverage from main gaming websites and has been struggling to reach its funding target, with just 11 days to go in the campaign, it could use a little more attention.

Description :

Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen is a fantasy computer role-playing game with turn-based combat and a party system that allows you to control up to six characters at any one time. Whether you yearn for an open world to explore at your own pace, tactical combat that allows you to plan your moves carefully, or want to lose yourself in the rich fabric of our world, trying to survive and make your mark, Realms Beyond offers endless choices, lands to travel, monster-infested dungeons and a host of storylines to follow.

Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen is inspired by the classic RPGs of the 80s and 90s, taking the best elements of the beloved old classics and reforging them into something new in a powerful modern engine. In Realms Beyond, you will find the tactical turn-based combat of the Gold Box Games, Temple of Elemental Evil and Dark Sun, the world exploration and camp management of Realms of Arkania, the interactivity and living world of Ultima, the choice-driven quests and reactivity of Fallout and Arcanum, and the rich NPC interaction of Baldur’s Gate and Planescape Torment, along with fresh new features that haven’t been seen before in the genre.

Realms Beyond is an RPG true to its roots, knowing that in order to reach the skies, it must stand on the shoulders of giants. But it is more than just a simple throwback to the old days: it’s a new take on classic concepts of the genre, taking the best ideas of the past and adding its own fresh concepts to create a unique game with its very own atmosphere and personality.

At first glance, the scope of the game seems too large and overly ambitious, given the size of the studio and small budget, but I will, nevertheless be interested to see how it turns out. Hopefully, we'll have another great C-RPG to look forward to in the near future.

Ah, and here's a giveaway for your trouble.

Oh wow, Retro like and looks little bit like Baldur's Gate with turn based gameplay. And nice to see a RPG from Germany. :)

Yep, a fine place for RPGs, they gave us Realms of Arkania, Spellforce, Drakensang, Sacred and Gothic.

Thanks for the link.

I completely agree with you; it looks way too ambitious for this studio (and the money they are asking). Hopefully they will surprise us all.

Yeah, it's only natural to be skeptical, especially given the tendency of Kickstarter projects to over-promise and under-deliver.

But it's not like they're building the game from scratch, a lot has been done already : the engine, game systems, tools to create content and most of the art assets have been created, and they won't be squandering money on frivolous (given the tight budget) features such as voice acting. I guess we can always rely on the ze German efficiency to deliver a good game :)

The game is close to reach its funding target, with only 5 days left, but achieving at least some stretch goals would be nice.

Grats on them for getting funded, looking forward for the game to be released in future, I've followed the game on Steam for now. Most likely will wishlist it if they get released in future. Warm Wishes and Cheers, Cruse~ :)
