My headset's left ear just died, not an uncommon problem for cheap headsets, but I'd like one that will last a bit longer than 6 months. Any recommendations would be appreciated, or just post whatever you use. Below $40 would be nice, but I can save up if they are really worth it. Thanks for your time.

One could argue that there are lots of things wrong with cheap headsets. They have terrible fidelity, which might not matter to everyone, but people who appreciate good sound will be massively turned off by this. They typically poorly made and don't last long, which means they end up in the trash and perpetuate the cycle of disposable consumerism. Buying something because it's cheap and you can and will replace it in six months to a year is a terrible plan. People used to save up and buy things that were built to last, not end up in a tech graveyard in some third world country with no laws against dumping toxic materials into the environment.

I've got some Koss SB45s, personally. Below forty bucks and that lifetime warranty (which covers regular usage!) sure is nice.

Lifetime warranty sounds nice, this is definitely an option I'll look into.

"Superhero-strength cords, joints and materials" I like that, I like that a lot. Also they look flashy as hell and that's nice. A bit expensive, but they definitely look worth the price.

They are worth the price and could even be more expensive. Excellent sound and really confortable. The mic has a great quality aswell.

I've had turtle beaches die on me before, but damn that sound quality was beautiful, and I love the color of the logitech ones, I'll look into these.

Does sound quality matter or do you just want a headset?

I guess I am looking for build quality over sound quality, but having both would be nice.

Headphones + seperate mic is the way to go.
Superlux 668b
I also heard clip-on mics are great.I just use a rock band mic with a mic stand so I can't really speak for the quality of that specific mic.

overall about $50.

Hey Guys, can anyone recommend me a headset too? 50$ budget, I want the headphone to be really good sound quality. Sound quality>Build. I have a macbook pro 2013, so it needs to be compatible with it :). I was looking at this one, do you know if its compatible? It doesn't actually mention Mac, but then I dont see why it wouldnt be compatible

That's going to be difficult. I can think of maybe two headsets with decent sound quality and neither are around $50.

If it uses a 3.5mm jack, it won't matter what you use it with. If it connects with USB, then it's possible, though unlikely, that there are issues with a Mac.

P.S. Turtle Beach, Razer, Steelseries, etc are all trash sound quality wise.

Plantronics GameCom 380 it is fairly cheap (I got it on sale for $34), comfortable and lasts a long time (I've had mine for 2 years and it's in almost new shape)

GX Gaming Cavimanus HS-g700v - 7.1, vibration, great design, relatively cheap :)

As long as you don't buy from turtle beach then it's all good :) got ripped off by $30 and the cables were super annoying! Not to mention the feedback noise from USB plug. I had to grab a power cord extension and use my phone's charger to plug the usb in there so it'll reduce most of the feedback.
