Idle Master doesn't work anymore

As for Idle Daddy it's a scam

tried it with this giveaway

https://gleam.io/hMy14/black-squads-2nd-anniversary-giveaway

Task 4 play Black Squad for 2 hours

Been idling the fucking game for 5 hours and i still can't complete the task, it didnt recognize the time Idle Daddy has been idling the game. Conclusion: not working

Any ideas?

Haven't got anything to recommend, but was curious why Idle Daddy's considered a scam? I don't personally use it, but I've heard it being recommended.

Maybe this giveaway just doesn't work?

Yeah, but it's extremely unlikely that it's the fault of the idler. I mean, how can it be? Your profile lists the time as 5.7 hours, so it did its job as needed. Gleam can't tell the difference between "idled" playtime and "active" playtime. I couldn't even imagine how they can know when Steam itself doesn't know, considering that idle programs are able to rack up playtime.

Calling the program a "scam" is slanderous most likely in this case since you're falsely claiming that the makers of the program were scamming, which in the US is a federal crime.

ok maybe i went bit overboard but this is not normal. so it's gleam's fault and i need to install and play for 2 hours?

Honestly, I think Gleam's on the fritz, as usual. It's not uncommon for their system to not recognize things that were actually done, unless they're done directly through Gleam.
So for example, visiting a link straight through them will almost always work since it sees the click and counts down the time.
But something like collecting account information might not be as robust.

Odds are almost 100% that it's Gleam's fault. While perhaps Ryzhehvost is right and perhaps they have made an entirely new branch that basically checks Steam data, cross references it with server data and then analyzes what's given, I would say it's so unlikely that this is pretty much science fiction for this specific giveaway.

I'd say, if you can, reconnect your Steam account with Gleam so it's forced to check again. Give it a few tries and perhaps try another day if the giveaway is still going on.

But if you want to be completely certain it's Gleam's fault then you don't really have any other choice but to do it legitimately since at that point the issue isn't the idler, but instead Gleam's connection to the game's server data. (again, highly unlikely)

I couldn't even imagine how they can know when Steam itself doesn't know,

There is a way. If they somehow get data from Black Squad servers - they will know the difference. I'm not saying they do, but theoretically it's possible in case of online game, such as Black Squad. Also, if that's the case - no idler would help, because idlers don't connect to game servers.

(but I think it's just gleam being broken)

I mean, it's possible. But the idea of collecting data from Steam, collecting data from the game's servers (which it would need access to), cross-referencing the two and then analyzing it sounds a bit of a stretch to me. But weirder things have happened.

gleam doesn't detect my playtime either. I think it's just broken.

Not a problem for me. Just something to be aware of, it may result in a suspension from the mods if they decide it is against the rules. As to the problem in the original post, I'd suggest the issue is on Gleams end rather than the idler.

It's the requirement of promotional tasks that's an issue, not gleam itself or the type of content it offers.

Your link goes to a page asking for twitter/facebook/instragram/etc follows. Meaning yes, you're currently violating site rules.

This. Archi closed the discussion threads here over a spat with the moderators but still maintains SteamFarm. It's lightweight, easy to use, and works very well.

I did over 2h with ASF and it's not recognizing it either. So I'm pretty sure the issue is Gleam.

As said by other users, idle programs don't work like that. The only intuitive way an idle program could be both updating your play time and not working correctly is if it is idling multiple programs at once, which would cause Steam to reduce the effective recognized playtime per game. That said, even then that should only affect trading card drops, not something like Gleam's playtime recognition function.

By the way, even the original IdleMaster still works just fine, so long as you use the basic launcher [fantastic for individual game idles, but doesn't allow for automatic full library idling].

Idle Master doesn't work anymore

I used it about 2 weeks ago, I had almost 900 cards to drop (about 225 games) and I wanted my sets ready for the sales (thanks again Valve for the summer sales cards...).
I dropped my cards in about a week, using the fast mode. It's working even better than before.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but SAM works pretty well for me when I want to card idle. Not sure if it'll work for what you need to do though

I switched to Archi Steam Farm, pretty complicated to use for noob like me, but with youtube tutorial I finally made in with my 3rd approach ;p

I think I used this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEPGDt8SXCw

about SAM, it won't work if you have too few games to farm, but you can still force it by coping browser's cookies into program.
although since I finally made ASF to work well, I can agree it's better than SAM.

idlemaster extended works perfectly as of today and for trading cards I use only that one, but if you want an easy tool to idle games and nothing else you should use hourboostr/singleboostr - it's perfect, and you can idle on one pc and play on the other one while it automatically pauses and re-starts idling after you close and such, search for them =)

As others have already suggested, Archi Steam Farm. It's worked great for me, and can be configured quite a bit. What makes me happiest with it, is being able to idle specific games if desired, including those that no longer have card drops. Helps a ton with Steam events, instead of having to install games for tasks.
