Wondering if anyone has seen a worse regifter. One guy on here has won 16 gifts and has regifted 7 of them and as far I can see has avoided a suspension or ban. Is this guy particularly lucky or skilled at avoiding a ban or are there worse out there ?

Less impressive numbers, but I saw a guy who regifted every single game he won. His "won" and "sent" sections looked identical.

What would be the point of that, though? He kept nothing for himself?

Maybe he's hitting his CV to enter better games, and waiting for better game to keep for himself :P (Thats what I would do if I were evul, but luckily I'm not :S)

Have you checked also his steam account (games). He could buy the same game and give it away (well that is a nice wish xD).

That seems possible..In the past I have given away games that I won...in fact, in the next day or so I am making a GA for a game title I just won the other day, cause I discovered it was still in a bundle, and I need nearly all of the games in the bundle(Except for the one that I had just won the other day)

If there would ever be a dispute. You can always take a screenshot in Steam with the date added. You can find it if you select a game in your library , next to play (or install)

I've heard there is a large queue of "User Report" support tickets, but a much smaller one for reroll requests. So let's hope the creator of the next giveaway your mysterious person wins will check http://www.sgtools.tk/activation before sending their gift... :)

Oh wow, I didn't know about this useful website! Thanks a lot for letting me know! I have known about Real CV calculator but it was the only tool I was aware of. Now we have such a nice website with everything in it - amazing!
PS. I think (and really hope it to be) it should be listed here somewhere on SteamGifts website itself so everyone could access it easier and whenever they want.

I think someone's made a browser addon for it, but don't remember where I saw it. :(

Hmm, I wonder if the support people have access to the games list from http://www.steamgifts.com/account/profile/sync - in case someone's got a private profile the rest of the time. Maybe it's a secret? :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I think they have permanent access to this but if one doesn't sync their accounts, the list on said page won't update and they will never know what games does one have. So, as long as someone didn't make her/his Steam profile public, no sites can't get any info out from it.

You have to sync once a week or the site will lock you out.

why don't you make it automatically sync us?

It automatically syncs once a week. If it's unable to do the auto-sync, it will lock you out of giveaways.

Yes, reroll requests seem to be handled quickly. So I think there's a much higher chance your evil person will receive his proper reward if he's reported in that manner. :) But I also think most giveaway creators don't check. :(

Not a regifter, but in one of my last giveaways, I had this user who had won the same games lots of times. I still had to give him the game because he apparently already had been punished for his "crime". ._.

So uh... i came across this situation. I got into developer giveaways, about a week ago, and i won the same game in less than 3 days. (won once, forgot to remove the other entries, there were multiple 50 copies giveaways hosted by the same developer at the time, after i saw i won the same game again, i removed all the other entries, i know it's against the rules to win the same stuff more than once).

I tried contacting the developer through the giveaway comments section and steam chat (he accepted my friend request, yet he ignores the situation), i also got ignored both times i tried to contact. Well, since i got ignored i assumed he didn't care so i marked as received the gift but didn't touch it. So key is unused right now.

Is it possible if i could ask a reroll on behalf of the developer since he doesn't even reply to me? And if i can, could you please take a look at it and reroll? Thanks.

Here is a link to the secondary giveaway (the one i didn't touch):

mark it as not received and wait, because right now your profile shows you have won multiple times.

Yes, that's the thing. I didn't want to leave a red mark on this dudes profile. So after like 8 or 9 days i marked it as received since i actually received the gift, it's no lie. I highly doubt the person that made the giveaway is going to bother rerolling the win, if he did he would have said something to me already. Not to mention the fact that he is constantly doing 50 copy giveaways for that one game.

A support reply would have been nice, but yeah, also ignored it seems. Seems like a trend here.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, probably the dev won't really mind if you marked it as not received either, so i would just leave it at that. Specially since now you have 3 games reporting being won twice.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wtf 3 games i won twice? I'm confused.

Unless its a bundle/pack, i seem to be missing something. I do enter bundle/packs for complete editions of certain games, if its ok with the giveaway creator. Or those pack of games with a couple of games, sometimes i enter those too, again if its ok with the creator and if i got less than half of the contents from the pack.

This is probably my 2nd time, i think this happened before and the gift got rerolled, also won a dlc a few months ago which i got in but ended up buying the humble bundle that gave it away, forgot to remove entries and ended up winning it, which also got rerolled.

Other than this, i can't remember to win more than once the same giveaway. Anyways, not even once was i to keep the 2nd wins as i gladly agree with the rerolls.

The multiple wins script from SG tools (here) lights up for Beat Hazard Ultra, Thunder Wolves and now Overture.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

God damn it, you are right. Just checked it myself. This is weird though, i don't recall having issues activating gifted games in the past, which leads me to question myself if the keys are still unused and i simply didn't double check upon activating a game to see if i already had it. I guess it's most likely that my 2nd wins are still unused aswell, unless the keys expired... i really didn't notice this untill now.

Oh well, guess that is worth a suspension. Can't really blame myself entirelly for this, why are some games i own still showing up in the website... I guess i just can't keep track of it all.

I also think it's better to mark it as not received. Here is a mass of people just waiting to report you or blacklist.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Reporting is something i really don't care about. I haven't done anything bad as i agreed to rerolling my win, even though the gifter ignores my request, there is a limit to how much i can do in a situation like this.

Also the blacklisting part... i really don't care to be honest, that is one of the three reasons why i stopped creating giveaways here and will continue to do so. It's the same as partially giving admin powers to every user in the community, power hungry people will abuse this without a reason.

You shouldn't mark it as received unless you have added it successfully to your Steam account. Since you already own it, you cannot do that and therefore it should be considered not received. In my opinion.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, i did that. Three times and it's currently not received. If only rerolling was something easy/fast to do... This situation would have been solved in a few minutes.

So a user can win multiple copies of a game, serve their suspension, come right back and win more copies with only a few day suspension to worry about? That's ludicrous!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It was almost 2 month suspension and if he repeats, he'll be perma-banned.

The thing is, we take intent into account as well. If I recall correctly, this guy had 80+ wins, all activated, with the infractions being the multiple wins only. It was pretty clear that he just didn't know the multiple win rule and wasn't maliciously regifting/etc, so a permanent ban wasn't proportional to the crime.

why doesn't the site (steamgifts) just disable the ability to win the same game multiple times? Seems more straightforward than requiring a reroll process.

What would be the point, if you won a fake GA, and you become excluded from all other GAs?

if you mark as not-received you can keep entering those GAs.

It doesn't. If the winner didn't activate the gift, he/she can still enter giveaways for the same game.

edit: I don't mean I think it's right, just that this is how the site works. So that's why we have to report users like this when we see one.

it would be pretty unfair to let users only take part in 1 giveaway of the same game, factoring in the chances to win.

things get even funnier when some of the joker guys are trying to regift WGN promo keys

little do they know that the winner will have some slight issues with the serial key as those fraudulent copies are being actively disabled

albeit it would be nice to get those games in question blacklisted on steamgift or at least marked as bundled (since from what I can tell looking out the scumbag steve report section we have on our site, many many people are trying to get rid of their copies here, at least a big part of the reports are always pointing to steamgift giveaways)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Are you saying that the WGN keys in general were fraudulent, or just that the keys that were not activated by the people who originally got them were flagged as fraudulent?
Normally I would have leaned against the later and not asked, but I've noticed that the WGN group on steam has been de-activated

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The only cases when those steam keys are deactivated is IF

  1. The user resells, regift the copy on steamgift
  2. In any shape or form tries to gain profit out of it

That being said, users are allowed to give it away to their friends and such if they wish

Answering your second question: our original group got closed down since a while due to some of the contests that Valve didnt approved. This is the current group we use: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/wgnchat and the website aka http://whosgamingnow.net
