I think I read somewhere that the top games are actually sorted by revenue generated rather than copies sold, so since it's half the price of Deus Ex, it actually sold more than double Deus Ex and more than quadruple Half-Life 2!

That's correct. That's why COD is up there so often even with a simple 33% discount (when it goes on Weekend Deals, outside of this Summer Sale). Even though at the same time there's an indie with a 75% off, COD always wins. That's because it's counted by revenue and not copies.
