I'd take a picture of mine, but it's rather messy with icons and folders all over... I really should organize it better and clean things up.
Edit: Welp, I finally got to cleaning up my desktop after browsing through some of this thread. Tried some silly things (1, 2) with it... I need to find a better wallpaper.
Edit 2: Gonna settle on this until I stumble on a better wallpaper.

The one I'm at not is nice, empty and structured, but it's my pc at work, not sure if they'd like me to post an image of that, showing which programs we use etc ;-)
My PC at home is overflowing with icons, so many that I don't even use it any more. can't remember the last time I clicked anything from my desktop there :)

I have 8 GiB RAM and don't use swap at all. I never load my RAM more than half, so I decided swap partition would be completely useless for me. Instead of hibernation I just suspend my system to RAM.

Anyways, 17 GiB swap is too much. 1xRAM size would be enough in your case. If you have a lot of space on your hard drive, then it's probably ok for you. I, personally, wouldn't waste 17 GiB, since my HDD is 320.

I have 500GB overall :)
Since beginning of using Linux, I haven't found a way to fill up even 200GB :D and that's with having installed 35 Linux games and about 20 Windows games through Wine :D [and other Linux/Windows stuff as well of course ;)]

nice and clean. The bars at the top are battery, hard drive space and time. I don't like having icons on my desktop or pinned to my taskbar!

This is my Sword Art Online Rainmeter setup. The Triforce Start Orb doesn't really match the Sword Art theme but I love Zelda and it looks good.

also, you can use neoxscreen for screenshots, it can auto upload to imgur, imageshack, flickr, photobucket and some other image hosting sites, also you can capture custom parts, or certain windows, etc...
it's free, fast and reliable ;)

Tip: Get DropBox then you'll be able to save your PrtScn images to a folder.

The thing I have is called Rainmeter and the dock is RocketDock and to finish it off, I use a crap ton ( only 3 ) programs to hide the taskbar completely, you have to add them to startup.
