Has the Last Campfire of Humble as a majorly-Steam game source burnt out?

[Tier 1] Epic's Shakedown got to me, they're getting my dollar.
[Tier 3] THQ's Re-Mastered Re-Heated Re-Games don't seem re-rurgitated to me at all.
[Skip] I haven't taken the vow of boycotting EGS, this just doesn't excite me that much.
[Platform] Where's my SCARF? Epic-only is the opposite of a hot deal for me.

Humble Monthly with Epic games only.

Cmon, IGN. Last step, do it!

Amazing bundle!!
I will pass though cuz i already own Mortal Shell/The Last Campfire/SR3 but still amazing one! (T1 for me)
Also congratz to all ppl who cry about Epic bundle while they are the first to claim Epic free games without supporting that great store with a single euro.

One problem I found myself on Epic is that they have given away all the games I was interested on at a rate that is impossible to keep the pace. There is literally few left to buy for me unless they drop a coupon and I want to play immediately that title. Put also Fanatical bundles and Steam sales in the equation and Steam still gets the most unless you pay for backlog.
The good thing is that now these kind of bundles will finally help in the long term to join the competition.

What's better on steam? the random trash games that allows just to ban them after few days ? The +1? The achievements that Epic started to add too? WHAT? Or you prefer it cuz of multiple bundle sites which offer steam games cheap af?
Also talking about freebies ...most of the steam users want just games with cards just to get more free games by selling them.
Only for games from this bundle i paid 30 euros on Epic Store and this is only a very small part of the games i bought there. Who is looking for freebies exactly?
Yea true. Quality > everything. Go check Epic list and then steam and do a fast comparison . Things are crystal clear...unless someone is blind .. :)

Better on Steam:

  1. Forums. Have a hardware issue? Stuck in the game. You can ask.
  2. User content. Especially screenshots.
  3. Game reviews. Other than carefully picked praises.
  4. TV streaming.
  5. General user experience design of the store. In Steam I can easily click the game dev, and see dev's other games. Genres/tags are correct and you can narrow down by them. In Epic for example Disco Elysium doesn't have "open world" tag, despite the fact that this tag exists. So you are unable to efficiently find new games that interest you. When I type "Disco El" to the search bar, Disco Elysium isn't among autocompleted suggestions. WTF?
Permalink

Pretty much social features and information you can find and from magazine reviews.
TV streaming for me doesn't say much..

I would like to see some of those implemented but still.. they say nothing for the quality of the store and the games on the platform.

TV streaming: you can play some games via wifi on TV that isn't connected to your PC. I can play Steam games on TV with wireless controller.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wrote this badly.. TV streaming isn't really for me. I prefer console and couch for controller
You could do this and with a cable for maybe better quality but I don't know if I'm right on this. It is useful for many people and many reasons. But it isn't something I use or would use

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, sure, but I don't have a console, and I have a specific TV setup in the living room. The TV stands on an "island", so the HDMI cable would have to go through the room. Right now Steam's "Remote Play On TV" is my only option to play some games on the couch.

Off topic for the thread but.. If steam didn't had this feature could you do this any other way? Some mirror app, an adapter, etc?
(I legitimately have no idea but I got curious)

I can probably use some other app, but I think the key issue here is synchronizing wifi display performance and controller inputs. Steam makes sure it works. For some reason not all games are supported for Remote Play On TV, even in Steam.

The only problem I have with this, is that it's as much user1078324's opinion as mine is that it's an actual acronym or anyone elses that it could mean anything either.. If you asked someone what does it mean, they'd probably try and find a word to fit in for the E because "E" and "O" are not the same letter, so it only makes sense. Urban dictionary itself has both type of ways listed as both it being maybe an acronym itself derived from "lol" or not and just being people who got tired of saying "lol" and now they say "lel" even thought what they mean is "laughing OUT loud", you seem to have sent me whichever option you believe in, however there's more than one definition out there and an acronym uses the first letters of the words, hence it makes more sense that the "E" stands for an "E" letter word, or well, it only makes sense. I'm sure there's people who use "lel" in all kinds of ways. Regardless in this case too it is used to rather show ridiculousness than to emote laughter.

Epic is a platform that wants monopoly. That wants to destroy any opponent, that they don't like. They start with a false propaganda against Steam, being a monopolist, while it's a big lie. Not only Steam is the biggest customer friendly platform of anti-monopoly, Epic is a the only monopolist on PC. Other monopolists are Sony with their PlayStation forced exclusives and Nintendo, with not selling any of their game on any other platform, which makes the price go high and never go down. Steam games are cheap and You can obtain them anywhere, which makes the sellers fight for their keys to be sold, which is what we call competition. This makes price to go down. It doesn't exist on PlayStation, Nintendo or Epic Fail.

As I want games to be free for everyone, regardless of their platform I am and will fight Epic monopoly as long as this monopoly would exist. I also hate selling high priced product in low quality medium, let it be service or platform. Epic Fail Launcher can't even have basics of basics of the functionality, all the other platforms have. Because they are brainwashing people with their political propaganda against "big bad Steam". We have freedom thanks to Steam and that's the fact. If I can buy AAA title for few bucks, it's thanks to Steam. Not Epic. If game is blocked for release on Steam it's monopoly. Steam have never ever done that. Epic blocks games on Steam as part of a bribary, illegal act of giving money to someone to gain a profit. This is what Epic Fail is doing. Also they used to (and I'm not sure if they aren't doing it still) steal personal data from users. They have no security of the accounts, no support, literally nothing. The absurd is that people have to use Steam forums to ask about help of Epic Fail games. Ridiculous and pathetic.

I'm gonna agree with bluefoxxx.. "You are really living in a dream world. Wake up!"

They start with a false propaganda against Steam, being a monopolist, while it's a big lie.

I'm guessing you haven't been reading upon Steam tactics, buyouts, "terms" or anything else..

Other monopolists

Oh yes,, Sony, Nintendo, MS.. Major publisherS (not the s.. it's caps.. PLURAL.. many publisherS.. not monopoly)
In your logic even devs are monopolists if they give games to 1 platform xD
NONE of this is monopoly.

Steam games are cheap and You can obtain them anywhere, which makes the sellers fight for their keys to be sold, which is what we call competition.

Itch.io too :) Other platforms too..
But let's back up a sec.. Since when what DEVELOPERS and PUBLISHERS are doing is STEAM'S doing?.. hmmm.. Steam is a HOST. That gets cuts.. NOTHING more.. It is not even trying to promote ANYTHING unlike other platforms.

It doesn't exist on PlayStation, Nintendo or Epic Fail.

That's because you are supposed to play GAMES and not asset flips!
A game has a cost.. And cannot be sold without losses bellow an amount.. The cheap things you see in Steam are NEVER for major games but for small indie ones or asset flips!
When a game is old, its price gets lowered EVERYWHERE not just steam..
Now if you are talking for all those nothings steam has on it that's another issue.. And they don't drop anything.. Devs pay 100$ to publish it, they sell it in volumes low af to profit and try to get the game to have cards to sell more.. People buy it off random stores for 0,05 and sell the cards for profit. THIS has nothing to do with real games MONOPOLY.

As I want games to be free for everyone, regardless of their platform I am and will fight Epic monopoly as long as this monopoly would exist.

And on steam they are somehow.. free?.. xD

Epic Fail Launcher can't even have basics of basics of the functionality, all the other platforms have.

Such as? Profiles and emoticons and better chat?.. A launcher has 1 job.. Launch a game. Nothing more.

Because they are brainwashing people with their political propaganda against "big bad Steam". We have freedom thanks to Steam and that's the fact. If I can buy AAA title for few bucks, it's thanks to Steam.

You can't. Unless you mean a veeeery old AAA.. In which case it's cheaper EVERYWHERE.

If game is blocked for release on Steam it's monopoly.

Perhaps open a dictionary or an economic book and READ what monopoly IS?

Steam have never ever done that.

Hello Orange Box :D

Steam have never ever done that. Epic blocks games on Steam as part of a bribary, illegal act of giving money to someone to gain a profit.

Can you buy steam games on Gog? Epic? Itch.io? In any other PLATFORM? NO. The only place you can buy steam games is "stores". Not platforms.. Just like Epic, Gog, etc..
As for the exclusivity.. Private products from private companies NOT having control over their product?.. Hmmm.. Nice thinking

Also they used to (and I'm not sure if they aren't doing it still) steal personal data from users.

Article? Also, data leaks have existed almost everywhere..

They have no security of the accounts, no support, literally nothing.

Wrong.. -Again..-
Steam isn't better in this regard.. It actually has even worse support..

The absurd is that people have to use Steam forums to ask about help of Epic Fail games. Ridiculous and pathetic.

Irrelevant at BEST..

Epic does nothing new, besides try to be another Steam.

  1. GOG gives you the option to download installers of games you own. Lets you add most launchers to your library.
  2. Itch.io is an indie store. Epic hates indie games...no surprise there.

Everyone likes to partner with Steam, Steam never had to buy / bully anyone to do it. Remember when GOG gave you free versions of Steam games you owned?
What has epic done to co-operate / co-exist with any store?

My problem with Epic is that they do not think anymore (at least not intelligently) Their mind is clouded by the single goal you mentioned: to become a monopoly no matter the cost.
They have given away so many free games to lure gamers to their store, that it has begun to backfire. Games have dropped in oomph with multiple repeats. They are losing money buying exclusives that get released on Steam a year or so later. Devs are begging to learn that a loyal, satisfied player-base makes more money in the long run. The haze is lifting and reality is setting in.
Why should I pay when I can wait and get it for free at some point? If I don't get it free I will buy it on Steam / Fanatical / GMG etc on sale.

Nothing good happens overnight, and money can only lease loyalty, not buy it.
I remember them losing their minds when Fortnite took off. To the point they halted / scrapped all other projects and moved everyone to work on ONE GAME (who does that?). 4 years later Fortnite is dying and there is little to show for it besides a crappy store and multiple pointless acquisitions. They would have Unreal Tournament, Paragon and probably a lot more games if they did not put all their eggs in one basket and then squished them.

They should go back to making games and stop this foolishness. They won't even support their miracle Fortnite on the Steam Deck, just because. Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face. Lol, It was funny watching them try to take on Apple and Google.
This may well be a case study of how not to become a Monopoly.

My problem is that they are against freedom of choice. And that they literally act like a politician that wants full power and they eliminate everyone who oppose them. Because that's literally what Epic does. They fight Steam as monopolist, stupid people listen to their lies, while Epic is the only one who limit, block the market. Then they literally bribe developers, which is highly illegal act, to not publish their games on Steam. This is bribery at its best. They also bribe people with three games. But as I said somewhere else, if Hitler sold me ferrari for 10 bucks, I wouldn't buy, because I wont' support evil. People who do sell out the freedom. Just so they have something FoR fReE!1!!!1 Unfortunately that's what it is. Also they disregard any law whatsoever. They break the contracts, when they don't like the conditions they literally signed. Apple cause is perfect example. They don't make new games, they don't make launcher ready. They are completely useless. Epic is not needed, because it adds nothing at all. They just make a big commotion. If they hypothetically erase Steam with their propaganda, I'm sure they will attack EA on yet another narration. THIS COMPANY IS BAD, IT MAKES DLC AND SELL IT IN EXCESSIVE NUMBERS. They just can't do it now, because if they fight all of them at once, every big company would fight them back. Epic doesn't want people to have games, doesn't care about devs. They care about destroying Steam so they can get monopoly. That's their only goal.

It looks to me like you are trying to ride the popularity wave (Pro MS, Anti Epic) without really considering what you are actually saying.
Now im not saying that this is a fact, only what it looks like to me at first glance.

You talk about monopoly and how bad it is, yet you not praising the only platform that is truly for the developers, Itch.io.
Itch doesn't force anyone to pay a percentage when starting to sell games there, no forced fees, its up to the developers.
Now that is a platform that cares more about the gaming industry than their own wallet.

You go on about how Sony and Nintendo have exclusives but say nothing about the lack of Fable etc on Nintendo and Sony consoles which is one of the reasons i started this comment the way i did.

Then you go on about how Epic steal personal data from users , something that was disproven quite some time ago.
Unless you mean in form of the regular data being collected by any given website and storefront out there but that is not a Epic problem by itself, it is a Internet and modern society problem.

This statement of yours leaves me more than a little confused:
Steam games are cheap and You can obtain them anywhere, which makes the sellers fight for their keys to be sold, which is what we call competition. This makes price to go down. It doesn't exist on PlayStation, Nintendo or Epic Fail.

You can buy games for EGS and Nintendo outside their own digital storefronts, this bundle that is being discussed is but one example of that.

Moving on:
We have freedom thanks to Steam and that's the fact. If I can buy AAA title for few bucks, it's thanks to Steam.
You really need to specify what you mean by freedom in this case because one of the things that Steam and EGS has in common is that you don't own your copy of the game unlike Itch and GOG that doesn't even require you to have the launcher installed to play the games.

I know im running the risk of coming of as a anti-Steam and Pro-EGS kind of person and if that is what people wanna label me as then so be it, i dont care too much about it but it might ease some peoples minds knowing that Steam is my preferred platform and the platform where i own the most games, closely followed by Itch.
