Armies of Exigo. I personally loved that game.

Sacrifice. It's one of the best and funniest RTS games you will ever play. A tad nontraditional, but worth every penny and minute you sink into it.

Spellforce was the first game that came to my mind. And yeah, I found it really nice. That was a few years ago though and I've never finished it. But I really enjoyed it back then. Worth a try if nothing else.

Battle Realms

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Ring is a big rip-off, still quite good tho.
Also Armies of Exigo but personally didn't like it too much.

starcraft 2, same story line and everything

-- Personally I liked Outlive but thats more of a starcraft clone... and by clone i mean starcraft with a new theme. Didnt have much in the way of RPG elements though.

-- Also Warwind was pretty cool (This one, or the second one had Heroes and units that leveled up, much like in warlords battlecry and warcraft)

-- And then there was Total Annihilation: Kingdoms (cant remember if it has rpg stuff in it but definitely a solid RTS with base-building)

-- and finally Impossible Creatures played a lot like Warcraft 3 but let you create your own units, pretty neat especially with the deadly creatures mod. (also has some RPG elements with hero characters from what I rememeber at least)

Edit: Oh and there is also BC Kings (not exactly good but somewhat warcraft-y, and its on steam!) it has the RPG RTS hybrid in spades.

Or you could always keep playing Warcraft 3 :>
