So yeah, my first topic here :P

So, I was wondering - do you think that Average Price in Humble Bundle bundles are, at least at very beginning, set by store? I was just checking out for new bundle nad at literally second after uptade on their offer average price was already over 5$, thanks to two donators who payed 18$.

I know you can unlock Space Engineers by payin 18$ but do you really think that it's possible that someone complete their order seconds after offer showed up?

It's just pure curiosity. I actually like Humble Bundle and I buy games from them. Oh and I love their support.

Probably the minimalist price, 1$. But I'd also wish to hear an original answer if there's any.

The few times I've caught a bundle within seconds of it starting, the BTA has always been inflated with a couple of large purchases. My guess is staff or developers getting in early.

I happened to be on the pc when 2 of the most recent Humble bundles started and saw the price with 18 and 30 purchases respectivly and they seem to start of with a set average of 5$.

I see 6 set as the initial average most often and typically the average doesn't start moving until there a small initial number of purchases

There is initial average - I think default is $6.

Thank you for all the answers. It seems that HB create first average on their own, but on the other side, I can't blaim them. It would be nice to see official statement about it but, well, we can't have eveything ;)

I have noticed this many times. It seems like they want to keep the average price above a certain amount so someone puts in large purchases at the start to get the price up and then they make sure the price doesn't drop below a certain threshold by putting in larger and larger purchases as more people buy it.

The price is "set" at t+0s since the store page of the bundle is accessible before by devs and other VIP folks. I remember that, few years ago, a special URL of a future Humble Bundle was leaked, before its official launch time.

That explains it. You know AFTER I made my last comment here I have realize that without earlier set average people (at least at very beginning) would be able to get both first tiers for 1$ :P
