Every single time i try to alt-tab while playing xcom2 i get to blackscreen and my pc just doesnt react to anything anymore. Kinda dies without turning off. Only way is to restart it is by the button. Any ideas why does it happen and what could i do to prevent it?

I have no clue as to why. But Xcom2 is a fairly broken game when it comes to bugs and stuff. And I also heard it doesn't really handle alt tabbing all that well. I'd suggest just playing it in borderless fullscreen mode if that option is in the game. Otherwise maybe a mod out there to fix it?

In those kind of games when Full Screen doesn't work, you need to try borderless window... I tend to use it always, I think it's better. I love to alt+tab and I hate bethesda and those kind of games for burring the game when I do. I love to alt+tab

I don't really know how does it work as I haven't tried, but Borderless Gaming (available for free outside of Steam) claims that the program is made partially to make games easier to alt-tab and such. Maybe give it a try, it looks like it could solve your issue.

Tried bordless and i can alt-tab but it does hit performance a little bit. For some reason.

Look for the INIs to tweak. Both XCOM and XCOM2 came out poorly optimized but the tools are there, just the devs didn't work with them. I haven't played XCOM2 but I know what you are talking about :(

Yeah i was aware of dodgy performance of the game beforehand but it's just peculiar why borderless tanks it . I guess it's just random thing.

In borderless you can disable v-sync cause its no longer used, and pretty much equal the performance.

A lot of games suffered from alt-tabing, basically its the laziness of devs in play here.

Another thing you can test is on win 10 with second desktop, i mean not alt-tabing but win+tabing.

I'm not playing at ultra because my graphic card is okayish but it's not a beast (it's an old 660gtx, yeah, I know, it needs a replacement but i needed to replace my computer and a friend gave it to me)... So... Ambient occlusion off, no MSAA (because holy fuck), high textures but low shadows, you know... Playing in that grey area between "medium-low" and "medium-high" settings...

Having 50-58FPS on windowed screen, not a single major drop and it's working fine, not perfect (because of my card) but fine.

Seems alt+tabbing works fine for me on all modes. Borderless might just fix things for you.

im running a ASUS gtx 960 and I havnt had any trouble with alt tabbing not working. Works while running 3d vision too. Worth noting that my system is dramatically overclocked. my CPU is running at 4.5ghz w/ 8 cores (amd fx unlocked).
