I have to say I'm satisfied that it's taking longer than my last screenshot puzzle to solve. It's hard to know the brilliance of the collective. If no new screenshots have been solved within a day, I will make a bit more zoomed out versions or take a new screenshot from a different part of the movie.

In the first screenshot group puzzle I did, I added people that used the same name on ITH as here on a whitelist. I will not do that this time. But I will know who can solve the individual challenges since they will be able to reply to the giveaways that comes after the group puzzles.

I'm not adding people on the whitelist for being able to spot one of the movies on the group puzzles this time. I may or may not add people for solving individual puzzles. I haven't decided yet. The whitelist GA is level 2 as well in case you're wondering. :)

Sorry, if I sounded I want to get into your whitelist at all cost ;) Of course I'd like to end there but I'm not sure I can. And I wouldn't get into your whistelist from solving ITH as I refuse to create one more account :D I was just curious, is all :)

Or just hard enough, the last group screenshot puzzle I made got completely solved way faster than I created it ^^ That was 8 puzzles of 10 images each. I wanted to make it harder this time, but with time if something will prove to be really too hard, I will give some help, such as bigger versions of the screenshots or new ones from the same movie.

Thanks to being on the whitelist, I made it to the individual giveaways/puzzles. Just so everyone knows, everything in whitelist land is very white.
Thanks again!

I have watched none of these movies so I can't contribute.

Yeah, I know Q5 and Q8 from somewhere just don't know where... xD

Yay I immediately recognised q7! No clue about the others though.

Since it's a group puzzle are we allowed to discuss the questions in the thread and work together to figure out the answer?
Comment has been collapsed.
I honestly don't know how I missed that. I swear I read the thread like 3 times trying to find the answer to that question!

You genius... q1 is soo simple now I think about it.. .xD

I think the next letter after the M is an A (you can see a little bit of it at the bottom, no other vowel would fit)
I don't think it's John Mayer though, already tried a few movies ^^ I also think it might be arrivals/departures at an airport or so, maybe :/
And Q1 has someone with long blonde hair in it ...

I'm guessing Q6 could be just a city of New york or something and NordHBane has just really zoomed in on an advert or something...

I like the way you're working together to figure this one out so I'm gonna give you a bit of a hint. It's indeed an electronic display of some kind, but it's not zoomed in. The entire screen is filled with the display when you have the full image from the movie.
The whole John Malkovich/Mayer train of thought is definitely something to consider. But there isn't anything in front of the display, such as a microphone. If you zoom out a bit and squeeze your eyes, it's easier to identify the letters below. Whether or not they can help you identify the movie, I don't know. :)

Letters below. Maybe one of these combinations.
NY LU (New york?)
NT LU
I'm thinking the letter after it looks like the start of an S as well.

actually I see what you mean about it being cut off at the top. O probably looks more probable then.
The N might actually be just an I as well

I feel like I recognize the girl with the black eyes. It's obviously from some horror film. Tried a few of the obvious ones but there's so many to choose from!
Comment has been collapsed.
Well in that case i didn't recognize it. Haven't watched that film and definitely don't plan to :P

It's from the operation-scene in the beginning where the aliens are trying to find out if she's the real deal or not.
I don't get it, why didn't they kill her first and then checked if she was? After all, it's not like they would have cared if they had killed a normal human. :P

I'm a huge cyberpunk fan, so I loved the cyberpunk parts of Cloud Atlas. The world was so nice, and the storyline in that time was awesome. I wanted a movie just about that timeline. I gess they listened, because it was kind of what they did in jupiter ascending. I guess you have to be careful what you wish for. Man it sucked :( The wachoskies should make cyberpunk like matrix, instead of crap like this :(

You're not forcefed anything, you're free to not watch it. It's a fiction show with really good writing. If you can't handle girl on former guy, guy on guy or snakepit free-for-all orgies though, it's probably not the show for you. Me and my wife loved every bit of it though and it'd be a shame if being closeminded is the reason such great storytelling isn't experienced. :)

I still look very much forward to seeing it, and I don't care what people want to do or be in their lives, that is their choice. I just don't like having political agendas or ideology forced upon me is all. It does not sound like this series does that though, so that's nice :)

There are quite a bit of story lines involving how to deal with being gay and transgender. I can definitely see how Lana/Larry Wachowskis personal transformation was an inspiration behind it. But it's also interesting on multiple levels because of how feelings are shared between people in the show.
If, for example, I was linked with a girl that likes boys, that would mean it can surface for me to like boys. It creates conflicting emotions and I think it was a good choice to have HBQT people in the show to represent this.

The action scenes are amazing, and so well edited. Without spoiling too much, it's incredible how they are able to film fighting scenes that take place in two different locations in the world and put them together. I believe almost everything is shot on location as well, which means actors will have to travel from asia to africa and such to do the same fighting scenes in two different spots to blend them together. So you can just imagine how well planned everything must be behind the scenes, because re-shooting something would cost a ton of money to fly the entire crew back and forth in the world.

Congratulations! :P Just q5 left then now... I remember it from somewhere...

Hello there, puzzlers!
It's time for a puzzle adventure featuring several different levels and types.
To start off I will state that I will not hide any code or links in the descriptions. It's purely based on the images that will be provided. You can check yourself if you think this is a diversion, but it will simply be a waste of your time. :)
First 3 puzzles will be group puzzles, each a puzzle of 10 screenshots and a giveaway. Once the 3 puzzles has been solved the slightly more trickier individual challenges start (6 planned to start with). But I also mentioned a whitelist feature. People that have managed to get onto my whitelist through puzzling prowess or being great guys in general will have a bonus giveaway, and that giveaway will have links to the group puzzle giveaways. In other words they will have a head start to the individual challenges, but they are free to help out in the group puzzles if they choose.
Now, as always, never discuss the individual challenges, but feel free to work together on the group puzzles.
Let's get started, shall we?
Whitelist: How to survive: Storm Warning edition
Group Puzzle 1: Movie screenshots
Group Puzzle 2: TV Show intros
Group Puzzle 3: Horror movie screenshots
Individual puzzles starts here: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/6hIdF/contraption-maker
It's time to up the ante, until I have 5 people that have entered the last giveaway, anyone that reaches it and comments on it will receive whitelist and have a chance at the whitelist giveaway: How to survive: Storm Warning edition. This extra bonus will only be available until the hint for individual puzzle #3 has been given out.Time's up.Individual puzzle hints:
Puzzle #1: This would have been a lot easier to solve if I hadn't filled the entire image with white.
Puzzle #2: I wonder how compressed a png-file is to reduce it so much in size.
Puzzle #3: If png-files could contain layers, I could edit this one in some other software.
Puzzle #4: It's really as straight-forward as it looks. No hidden tricks, it is one of those tags.
Puzzle #5: Just as straight-forward as the last. Just need to find which specific type of code it is.
Puzzle #6: That's not a barcode.
Solutions:
Puzzle #1:
Puzzle 1 image
The image is not pure white, there's a 1 shade difference on the giveaway code. If you use the fill-tool on the background you can see the code.
Puzzle #2:
Puzzle 2 image
There's a rar-file embedded into the png, if you open it up in winrar you can see a text-file with the code for the next giveaway.
Puzzle #3:
Puzzle 3 image
When editing this file in notepad you can see some photoshop XML-code. The <layer> bit has a 5 letter code that's used to solve it.
Puzzle #4:
Puzzle 4 image
It's a basic QR-code that you can see everywhere, especially popular on advertisement posters and such. Nothing secret about it.
Puzzle #5:
Puzzle 5 image
It's a PDF417 type barcode. Nothing special, just needed to find the right type of barcode.
Puzzle #6:
Puzzle 6 image
Made to look like a barcode, but it isn't. It's binary, black for 0, white for 1. Each binary number is 5 pixels wide. Translate the 40 number binary string to ascii and you get the final code. Notice that there's a 10 pixel white frame around it, so it starts and ends at the black bars.
Good luck!
PS. All group puzzle giveaways are level 1, anything and everything else is level 2.
PS2. All individual puzzles have now been created. Good job on SpaceClick who's been trailing and solving every challenge as I've put them out. Let's see if he can be the first one to solve the last as well, or if sleep got the better of him. Group puzzle 2 and 3 hasn't been created yet, still waiting until I see how people do on the first one to adjust difficulty levels.
PS3. Good job on Starlynk, who was the first one to solve all current individual challenges.
PS4. Group puzzle 1 unsolved screenshots made slightly easier. Group puzzle 2 created.
PS5. Group puzzle 3 has been prepared, but not finished. Need to google reverse check everything and such. It will be horror movies released approx between 2004 and 2010.
PS6. The third and final group puzzle has been created and can be accessed after group puzzle 2 is finished. Once the 3rd is finished anyone can start working on the individual puzzles.
