I still own some early-gen iPads that work perfectly, for what it's worth.
When it comes to ease-of-use and longevity, especially for non-tech savvy folks, they can't be beat IMO.

Thanks for suggestion I'm glad you have a good experience with apple product ; ).

But someone comment about file transfer in iTunes cause trouble or slow do you ever have such problem~?

Oh for sure, importing/exporting files can definitely be a hassle on iPadOS. I'd say iPads are by far the best tablets for a light workload like emailing and note-taking, simple file transfer like for photos and pdfs, and casual use.
If you want a tablet for more advanced applications, I don't think you can go wrong with android or windows tablets! Though be aware, more features might mean more hassle for those that aren't so tech-literate.

Hmm...🍎

To be honest, it's not the right time ...
The average price tends to increase 1.4 times in half a year.
Performance concerns for cost.
If you can't postpone it, it might be a good idea to look for second-hand goods, but I can't think of any recommendations.

i have an ipad right now to run Scrivener but before that i had a couple RCA tablets in two different sizes that were very good for their price AND both offered the SD slot for expandable storage that you're after. just get a good case to protect it so if it hits the ground just right it won't break (that's how my mother broke hers =__=) and it should last for a few years at least.

Why is Apple even a poll choice if 3/4 of your requirements are disqualifying?

S6 Lite meets much of your requirements 9.62” x 6.07” it is like a really thin 1 pound book. Decent specs and build quality for the price.

I'm pretty sure the poll is just asking what brand everyone personally prefers, not polling for recommendations

I bought an iPad about 2 years ago and it's the last thing I'll ever buy from Apple. Even though the hardware (espcially the display) is pretty nice, it's not very usable to me because Apple's software concept doesn't allow a proper storage management or file manager. Any file transfer from or to the tablet only works through itunes, which is the most clunky, slow and non-intuitive piece of software I've ever come across. The very idea to synchronize your tablet's content with a software that is made to sell content is idiotic to say the least.

I also own a cheap (€60) no-name tablet, which comes with factory-installed malware, a very bad display and a slow processor. Still, it's more handy than the iPad, because I can simply plug in a usb-stick and copy over some stuff. From that experience I would recommend anything but an iPad, unless your mother intends to use it precisely as Apple intends.

Samsung S6 lite comes with a pen included, and is decently priced. Just don't expect too much, at that price it's probably not the fastest or most intuitive tablet.

Yea I been told a lot about Apple product and their customer support and really really anti on right to repair which I fully support.

And I seen how Itune function with my friends iphone before it really have a specific and limit way to use and add on.

Also thanks for the warning I will stay away from no-name brand in case of getting faulty product 😤

if money was no object id buy myself an ipad with the new m1 chip, got a great display, nice speakers and the chip has really great single core performance ... i'd really like to see what this chip is able to emulate but my problem with apple is, that it restricts my ability to do whatever i want with my bought hardware, can't sideload my stuff to test something like this without jailbreaking ... so my pick would be this one ... it is on the more expensive site but it comes with an oled display, 128gb storage + microsdxc up to 1tb, got one of the faster android soc and is around 10"5 inch with android os ... if you search something cheaper then i'd write where you're from and how much you are willing to pay :D

Hmm apple product seem to be really hard to play around without voiding a warranty or accidentally brick the damn thing.
Also thanks for suggestion I'm not really sure about the different pro and con of each display type but I will take a look at it.
And I'm in SEA region so I'm pretty limit to either Samsung, Lenovo, or other Chinese knock off.
I'm planing around 400USD but will pitch a bit more for better product still S6 seem good. But what your opinion on S6 Lite~?

well, biggest difference to the s6 and s6 lite are (atleast in my region) exynos chip, 2GB less RAM, cheaper ips panel with less resolution and less integrated flash memory ... the last time i checked the snapdragon was faster and more efficent than exynos ... i don't know why, but tablets atm dont have more than 4 or 6gb ... shouldn't be a problem with casual usage, display is a big sacrifice in my opinion. there are 4 common panel types: tn, va, ips, oled. first two aren't really used for smartphones/tablets. in general oled have a wider color gamut and better contrast than an ips panel, the only downside from an oles is display burn in ... i've managed this twice with my iphone 4 retina and with my s5 amoled ... as long as the tablet isn't 24/7 on without changing backround it should be fine. display resolution could be relevant, higher pixel density from the screen = sharper text to read and more pixel = more screen space ... if you would use excel it could be handy. 64gb less flash isnt a problem if you plan to use a sd card ... Asia is a tough region if you arent in taiwan / china / japan or south korea so if you could snack a s6 lite for ~250$ it should be alright for your needs

Woah thank for taking your time and write up an informative info dood, didn't know that it was call burn in before thought the display was just getting old(´▽).

Well my Mom usually just use a basic online surfing and social media so I don't think it need too much of RAM and the Spec for S6 Lite here is at 4 GB and extend sd at 1 TB so it should be enough for her use. I just check S6 Lite have Lineage OS support that would sway me a whole lot if I were to buy it for myself lol and indeed snapdragon perform almost 2x better than exynos chip and S6 GPU also double the performance as well. I guess it come down to the display size and resolution well if there was promotion next month I might buy S6 so that she doesn't need to strain her eyes.

Once again thank for taking your time and helping me dood 💙Whitelist💙 and wish you a wonderful day ahead!

I don't have any specific model recommendations in particular but I do recommend not getting a very cheap one because they can be Really. slow so it's better to go with something recent from Samsung Galaxy (or maybe even some "old" models), I'd take it over Apple any day honestly
