The wait is over.... For now. Bethesda announced Fallout 76 today with a nice little teaser video set inside Vault 76.

It seems like it might be set in 2105, which is only 28 years after the bombs fell. The earliest timeline in the franchise.

Please, please, PLEASE don't make us build settlements again. And do NOT give us paid mods or lootboxes/microtransactions that seem to be all the rage these days.

Damnit, now I HAVE to find a way to get the Fallout 4 season pass just to play the rest of them as well.

Also, what happened to Fallout's 5 through 75? :P

Edit- Response from the New Vegas team.

It's bethesda so I'm expecting a dumpster fire which modders will have to clean up after to make it anywhere near enjoyable. But since it looks like it's going to be an online thing, I may be setting my expectations too high.

Just started with Fallout 4 that I managed to win here and to which I bought later a Season pass. To be honest, I am quite disappointed with the game, especially when compared with Fallout: New Vegas or even Fallout 3 (which a lot of people did not like). Maybe I can still get into it but so far it feels quite uninspired. However I do hope that Bethesda will try harder with the new Fallout.

if by "online" they mean "coop" then it's pretty cool. but I don't need another mmo ^_^ and the multiplayer mods, like in bioshock, died very fast.

A lot of ppl forget that they started their own "save player 1" campaing just a few months ago saying how they would focus on singeplayer games. Imo it is very unlikely that this is some kind of MMO. It is more likely a settlement manager / base builder game.

So, is this like the Fallout version of Elder Scrolls Online?

The base building aspect of Fallout 4 did presage something like this.

Going to reserve any judgement until we get official confirmation on how "multi-player" will be implemented.

Wow. This looks actually really bad. TLDR: It seems client<-->server communication is completely unencrypted and what's worse, they state that there are basically no server checks. I mean I am no fan of the Multiplayer Fallout idea but this is a whole new level of dilettantism for any multiplayer game. I just can't imagine that any big developer would release something so critically flawed.

It will sell well regardless. Why should they bother?

i still enjoyed watching oxhorn's hours-long live streams. he is far from being a great gamer but he is the nerdy and lore-obsessed casual daddy we all wish we had.

also the game is on sale already (on hrk -50%) and i was starting to consider buying it. but all in all...i just can't do it.
by the looks of it barely anyone wants to buy it anyway: Fallout 76 UK launch sales are over 80% down compared to Fallout 4

i just found this random dude's review on youtube and i think he pretty much nailed it. all of it.
maybe for 5 bucks when it makes its way to steam. but otherwise? bethesda can go and eat a dick for what they just did to the fallout franchise.

the standard edition of fallout 76 is being pulled from the stores and online retailers seem to be low on stock as well.
what does this mean?
fallout 76 could go f2p in the more or less near future.

edit:
rumor was denied by bethesda

They might put it on steam (although I doubt it), to try to milk money from people who strictly uses only steam.
