i must be overthinking it. my problem is that sgtools links can only have hexadecimal characters in them (so numbers + abcdef) and none of the ceasar shifts i tried actually give the needed result

look at a bunch of SGtools urls.
you might see what you have to do when you have a bunch all next to each other.
since hints are allowed, you will see a specific pattern in a part of the urls that might help indicate what you need to do

I just came here and I'm was too week to try so solve this without having at least a glance at some of the hints... I did not look at all of them, but the gist of what I saw made me solve this easily. And I'm fairly certain that's not a route I would have taken without them. Thanks!

The puzzle may seem difficult and may take some time, but I think it is relatively easy.
