Maybe contact steam support and see if they can do something about it?

Contact Steam Support saying you moved. They will fix it for you. You don't need to buy the game again.

It's not that easy. He has RU/CIS copy and it's stated that it only works in RU/CIS region.

they won't change subscriptions parameters. the only thing support can do is to remove the game from account.

You can get nice Steam Support members who will. I had a AU copy, sent in a ticket to have it removed, they changed it to ROW instead.

in some country is necessary use a proxy to internet connect. Every software have a option to put it a proxy settings...

According to Steam using proxies and VPNs is ok unless you're using it to circumvent game region restriction or buy games for a lower price than in your country

Well, it's either Hong Kong or Skyrim. You can't have both.

It's like the saying goes: You can't have Skyrim and live in Hong Kong too.

Haven't you checked the news in a few months? It's a dangerous country right now. There is a ceasefire now, but no-one knows how long it will really last.

It's okay to be uninformed. You've just apparently played too much video games in the past months and didn't check out the internet enough. ;)

Just out of curiosity, doesn't anyone talk about what's going on in the world in college? Or did you immerse yourself so much in work? I mean potentially this could lead to WW3.

Had the same problem with Portal 2. In the end, I had to ask support to delete it from my account and buy region-free copy on Steam. And general expat advice: you can still use Ukrainian store safely (http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=ua) as long as you are using Ukrainian credit card or Webmoney, but watch out for region-locks and try to buy region-free copies on amazon, gmg and so on.

That's just plain evil from Bethesda and Steam. Why would you have to buy games twice ore more times just because you've moved to another country...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The governments of different countries decide what can and can't be sold in their countries. It's not really Steam's fault. They have to abide by the laws of the countries.

Steam Support won't help. You're gonna have to buy a RoW copy. So much for legal possibilities.

Actually, if you MOVED, not just went on vacation, then you have small chance. Just prepare tons of scanned documents.

Have fun then.

This. You need scanned copy of document (not sure which one though) but you won't be able to play it anyway. Your account will change region and you'll be able to play China locked games. I think it's not a problem to pirate games in China with their copyright laws though.

p.s. I didn't say this. Only China can blame me for these words.

create another steam account and buy skyrim for you to play in hongkong, that way you can also play skyrim if you're going home to ukraine

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you want the game on your main account, email steam support and tell them the situation. In the mean time, just buy the skyrim now(while it's on sale) as a gift, instead of adding it to your account.

When steam gets your region restricted copy hidden/deleted, then just activate your ROW copy from inventory.

Maybe it's time we start rebelling against this region/DRM bullshit...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

MAYBE its time??? Quite frankly if you aren't ALREADY against intrusive drm that treats all customers like criminals, then you never will be... most gamers are too apathetic to really give a shit, and that wont change. Some people might occasionally bitch and moan about it, but when it comes to the crunch, they'll take it, smile and say 'please can I have some more'.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, this website is called STEAMgifts, so for sure everyone (I wonder if there's anyone who doesn't) use this region/DRM bullshit. I was trying to bring more people to "our" side. IMO, the only big advantage to Steam are the prices (not so much anymore) and the platform, for connecting to other people and playing together etc. But I've already started supporting GOG, and I'm really looking forward to GoGGalaxy!

Create a new Hong Kong account.
Use family share on your Ukraine account so your Hong Kong account can play the games that are playable.
Buy the games that aren't playable again on the new account.

So you are still able to play games when you're back in Ukraine.
