TF2 if you're into that sort of thing. Other than a few exceptions I only play single player games (which sometimes may have a multiplayer component, but it's usually tacked on).

Qucikly looking through my played list:
- APB reloaded
- the already billion times suggested TF2
- Payday 2 - not sure if it is still free
- Town of Salem - not free on Steam, but free in browser
- Warframe
- Survarium - no clue if it still has a playerbase

I have a list of great multiplayer games, but not the budget. Now I'm looking for some suggestions for free online multiplayer games that are on steam. The genre doesn't matter, although I'd prefer no mmorpg suggestions since I have another list for that. Also doesn't matter if they are big or small, as long as they are fun :)
I checked the search bar and found a few threads like this but none asking for free game suggestions.
