There are many giveaways (facebook, twitter, websites, forums and stuff like that) people enter for codes to games they already own or don't want and pass that code along.

Bundle sites. There are many out there, and they always have bundles going. Some offer more keys then others. Humblebundle, Indie Gala, Indie Royal, Groupee, Bundle Stars and many others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Buying keys and gifts from places like Steam, GMG, Amazon, Gamers Gate, GOG and many other sites I'm sure when they have games on for crazy low prices. For example, Amazon.com had some game bundles with like 20 games, for 91% to 95% off.

And of course there are the supernatural ways too...

The bundle fairy.
Oger of keys.
Purple Leprechaun (like the green one, but catch him and he gives you game keys).
And of course the sugar mamma. Like the sugar daddy, but female. (I class this one as supernatural cause no one has actually seen a woman near a gamer, its like big foot, there are many claims, but no actual proof).
