So, I'm trying to join for giveaways of Arma II DLCs, I just synced with steam, logged out and logged in again, and nothing, still appears the message "missing base game".

And I bought some game from bundles yesterday and I'm still able to join for giveaways of them.

Is this a bug? Is there something I can do?

I used Chrome with "Easy SteamGifts" extension.

Perhaps this should have been posted under "bugs / suggestions", if that is the case, my bad.

i would think this is a bug cause sg doesn't recognize if you own dlc so even if you owned it you should still be able to enter

Yeah, I bought Arma II yesterday, but when I try to join giveaways for some Arma II DLCs I still have "missing base game". :(

And the worst is that I can join giveaways for games that I already own that came with the same bundle (not joining them, don't worry, I just tested and removed my entry).

It's a known issue with Arma 2 related to the appid, use the Search feature before starting a new topic.

EDIT: Seems Arma II does have a problem with that. But how could I know this was only Arma II related? I thought it was a sync problem. Don't assume I didn't searched about it before because I did, but I searched about "sync issues", "sync problems", "not synced" and whatever, here and on google, so please don't go telling "use search before starting a new topic". I thought it was a sync problem, not only Arma II, I used Arma II as an example because it was the first DLC of a game I bought after I created my SG account that I tried to enter for a giveaway. "Its a known issue with Arma II" would have solved all my doubts.

If you don't see new games, or Arma 2 specifically, added to the list of games you own at SG (or it shows 0 owned games), then you could assume it is a Sync issue, and even then there are Sync issues specific to certain games or Groups. But I see I shouldn't have bothered to reply given your aptitude.

First: My attitude? "use the Search feature before starting a new topic". Second: How could I know how the system works? Now you know I searched so that was not the problem, the problem is that I should have know what caused the situation. Well, if I knew I wouldn't have created a topic. Perhaps should I have waited till I buy more games and see if the same thing happens? It was the first game I bought after I created a SG account that I entered for a DLC giveaway. If it happened with other games before, I could assume it was related to Arma II, but that was not the case.

I recently won Arma II here, although I already owned it. Forgot to check before entering as base games are usually synced properly. Might be related to your problem. (for everyone else reading this, I did tell the creator to do a reroll and he did, happy end ^^)

There's something funky going on with Arma 2 and Steam and that's probably the root of the problem.

There's some some SubIDs called Arma 2, some called Arma II when it's the same game (well one has lower-res textures and was free iirc but it's essentially the same), might be to do with that.I don't get a little blue "owned" indicator when searching the game on the store (see attachment 1), but I do own it, (attachment 2).

Steamgifts doesn't recognise that I have it so I have to manually block it from the giveaway list., however I can actually enter DLCs for some reason despite this.

How can I block it manually? A lot of games I bought from a Bundle yesterday still appears for me.

Next to the name of the game on the list you'll see the cost in points to enter. Example: (10P). Next to that is a little Steam symbol. Next to the Steam symbol is another little thing - it's supposed to be an eye with a line going through it, Click that and it will ask if you want to hide giveaways of that game.

There is a naming difference between ArmA 2 and Arma II , we have this error for months it needs to be manually changed.

Ty for the help, guys. I thought it was a sync problem, not only about Arma II, I used Arma II as an example because it was the first DLC of a game I bought after I created my SG account that I tried to enter for a giveaway. So I searched about "sync problems", "not synced" and stuff like that and found nothing. Thats why I created a new topic. After realizing it was something only Arma II related I searched for "Arma II" on the forum and got more answers.

You can let this die now. But ty very much.

Be aware that the original Arma 2 doesn't have any DLCs. Its the standalone expansion Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead that has DLC's. If you navigate to the Steam page of those DLCs, there will be a message that says "This content requires the base game Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead on Steam in order to play." Some DLCs will even require both the games Arma 2 and Arma2 Operation Arrowhead, which are also available in one package called Arma II: Combined Operations.
Confusing, I know.

Oh, I think this was the actual problem. I tried to join a giveaway for Arma 2: Private Military Company, and it is actually for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead.

I didn't knew Arma II had a standalone expansion. I didn't knew either that there was a DLC for an expansion.

Well, my bad.

At least now I know that SG has problems to sync original Arma II so I'll be aware of that if it happens.
