Some of my giveaways are missing pictures of the game title, like my last invite giveaway for example:

Some more:
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/5PHiV/monkey-island-2-special-edition-lechucks-revenge (just in the giveaway itself, when browsing my profile there is a picture)

https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/tpl29/the-descendant-complete-season-episodes-1-5
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/x5K99/the-council-complete-season
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/A9kSX/tyranny-deluxe-edition

EDIT: Posted some of my whitelist/group giveaways, replaced them with public giveaways.

I think mainly because these are packages? (except Monkey Island 2)
Is it even possible to add pictures for these packages? It's ok if it's for whatever reason not possible to add pictures for these, would just look prettier when browsing the profile(s). 😛

I think it is another thing connected to steam api and it takes pictures directly from steam, which would mean it isn't possible add them from sg side.

I see, and understand. Not tragic of course! Just a cosmetic thing. :)

It sometimes annoy me as well. Like when you give some interesting AAA and people won't recognize it on first sight.

All of those are complete (...) editions that do not have a picture on Steam (at least I think so).

Except Monkey Island 2, has a picture on Steam but doesn't show in the giveaway itself (the smaller picture is there though).

all except for monkey island are packages of some special / deluxe edition.
some of them dont even have a valid steam page (anymore)... though i hope its not just me being in germany
packages usually dont have a picture

dont know whats up with monkey island though... maybe oppenheimer is right about some "normal/not sold as package" special editions not haveing pictures as well

Isn't it same as HZD complete edition? It is just single game and no base game exist

Hmm I think MI 1&2 Special Editions are the base games? Well, or classic MI 1&2 are maybe the base games? I dunno, I'm confused.

EDIT: I mean MI, not ME (Monkey Island)

I mean if it exists as game on steam and just have special edition in name, it should have picture (example Oblivions), but if complete means it is base game + dlcs, then not? (example Injustice 2 legendary edition)

Oh yeah. It just has SE in name, but it's the full game in itself (if that makes sense). I think MI2 should've a picture in the giveaways but something is not working correctly between Steam & Steamgifts in this case!

Yeah, I agree, by that logic Monkey island 2 should have picture. Maybe devs haven't uploaded it on their side?

I'm not sure which Steam API SG is using, but there is an API which returns game info for games/packages as JSON, which includes header/capsule images if available:

You can also directly plug the app/sub ID in these urls and see if steam returns a header image:

(I believe steam has two interchangeable CDN prefixes for these assets: cloudflare and akamai)

Of interest is the monkey island game, perhaps SG cached the JSON response and the image was added sometimes after that (it didn't exist before)... According to SteamDB, the images were only added 2 years ago: https://steamdb.info/app/32460/history/?changeid=U:26593825, while the game app is much older than that (11 years?)
