I have a PC with a very outdated videocard. After looking at 1070s and Vega 56 which are either sold out or ridiculously overpriced from original MSRP (due to Bitcoin), I'm seriously considering getting a console. Now the question is which console.

Should I wait for the Xbox One X or just get a PS4, PS4 Pro, Pro or Switch? Ideally I want a console with games that I can't find on Steam (as I'm eventually going to get a new gpu...but don't want to wait for prices to drop to MSRP so going console for now).

What should I get?

Switch

Wait for the Xbox One X
Bite the bullet and just overpay for a GPU
Wait GPUs prices to get back to normal (however long that takes)

wait to find a nice deal and get a new video card, or upgrade your pc.
no point in using steamgifts to win stuff you will never play, right? 😋

You can get a 1050ti or a 1060ti, since they have reasonable prices.

Wait GPUs prices to get back to normal

I just happened to read about these cards today.
If saving money is important point:
You can choose from models which are already at normal. If you play at 1080p, GTX 1060 3Gb will be enough for any existing games at ultra@60 fps and it costs around 200-220$. Best productivity/price ratio. 6Gb version costs around 300$ and will work fine for 1440p and/or ultra hd textures (e.g. distributed as DLCs).
Plus, extremely memory-eating features for 4K gaming are not really visible on any lower resolutions.

Also.. this topic looks not particularly honorable considering so many wins not ever touched. Sure, why not buy a console, great :)

Spend the budget for the console (+console games) on the best GPU you can buy and you'll be much better off. It doesn't need to be a 1070 for a great improvement.
