It's already happened, kinda. Deus Ex Human Revolution had a SP mission that was not only limited to pre-orders, but only to certain retailers on top of that. Of course Squenix came to their senses and made the DLC available afterwards but still.

Assassin's Creed 3 was even worse as it had lots of different story missions at different retailers. Even if you bought the game at a participating retailer, you'd still miss out on the other exclusive missions from the other retailers. You'd basically had to buy the game several times at several different stores to get all content.

this is why I hate dlc(espeically day 1 dlc and preorder crap.) at least these guys admitted it should be in the game and got carved out so they could sell it to us.
This one even appears in game, is grayed out, and was literally stated to have been in the game then ripped out to sell as dlc.

The idea of DLC sucks in general, yes, but I can live with it. Before long it will be $1.25 or something for Ranger mode. Most people will end up with it now or just wait for everything to go on sale later.
I usually don't preorder, but I decided to grab the Limited Edition off Hookups for $25. I loved the first one, so I don't much feel like sitting around, waiting to play it for months.

See, this is a course of action I can respect. I've heard people say they're just going to pirate the game, but if you do that, then there will be no more games in the Metro series. It's not a blockbuster series like COD, so it can die easy. I hate that they made ranger mode a DLC, but I also don't want to see the series die. If people just don't pre-order and pick it up on a sale, that still gives them money for a sequel and sends a message about what gamers are willing to put up with. Personally, I pre-ordered because I'm weak willed and have been anticipating this game for AGES, but I like your decision too.

Because it WAS an expansion pack. But it eventually became too big for an expansion, so they decided to call it a new game. I agree, that calling it Saints Row 4 is a bit too much, but I don't understand the sudden hatred towards the game itself.

It's not that it became too big. It's because THQ was going down so they shifted the existing development to making a sequel rather than even more DLC. But then THQ went under before they could actually release the 'new' game.
Also, just as a historical note, Mission Pack Sequels used to be/is still the norm. Clamouring for more of the same is common in just about every entertainment medium (Nintendo is almost based entirely on it) so I don't see what the actual problem is with MPS's in general of Saints Row 4 in particular.

It was THQ that made this. They made a agreement with Gamestop, offering this as a exclusive dlc for retail, and Deep Silver couldnt back out.

I don't hate Metro altogether. Metro 2033 is one of my favourite games, certainly my favourite genre. But I'm not sure whether Deep Silver decided to do this or 4A. A paid difficulty dlc could never be a good idea so whoever decided to detach it like that is an idiot. "A paid difficulty dlc" just sounds ridiculous as I was typing it.

Its a dick move yeah I know, but I wouldn't say it was 4A Games' decision. I'd rather say it was actually Deep Silver. But this comes from a very unstable point which is, they did the same thing on Metro 2033 but when it was all about THQ and 4A, this same 'Ranger difficulty + Weapon(s)' DLC was free. That's the only reason I think Deep Silver are the ones responsible for this situation.

Deep Silver didnt fuck up anything. The game was already basically finished when they bought it. That includes this dlc. This dlc was decided by THQ and THQ only. Nothing to do with Deep SIlver

i dont really care. these days i tend to just wait for games to hit a 75% off sale before buying them, so ill be able to pick up the game and the 'how its meant to be played' dlc for under 15. publishers apparently get mad at my 'shitty attitude', but they started it.

And that behavior of Koch Media, because clearly, it's not 4A Games fault, is really similiar to EA. I've got this game from Nvidia promo and if this "SPECIAL BONUSES" will be released as a DLC later in time, this will be the worst thing they can possibly do.
