It would be like the same as steam promoting origin, nike promoting adidas, coca-cola promoting pepsi...
It doesn't make sense, since you have a "product/service", and someone else offers the same "product/service" as you do, why would you promote your "rival"?
Promoting the other can either have positive or negative feedback, to do so, the two websites would have to make a partnership, but it would be too much effort for little profit.

Both sites are non-for-profit services made as hobby projects for the community, both are finished, and nobody wants to cooperate at the stage when everything is finished and needs to be maintained only.

No, it doesn't work like that.

my guess:

  • one makes the other obsolete ...
  • different approach, wine and beer don't mix well + unless your goal is getting blasted fast
  • same goal? wouldn't be so sure about that ...

posting Links to SC GA's and vice versa are are strictly prohibited

...Wait, what? I've read the FAQ and Guidelines for Steamgifts multiple times in the past, and I don't recall any mention of that rule.
I've also posted links to SC giveaways in the past (in fact, I just did this morning) and never got into trouble for it.

So was it removed from steamcompanion?
I never saw any post here removed because of linking to another similar website (with no referrals of course)

EDIT: Has steamcompanion a forum? :S lol didnt know it. Found it now. Well, I think you should post this on sc (not mentioning any particular website, just mentioning 'other similar webs'), not here. Each site has different ToS and rules and you have to respect them, but rules here are more permisive it seems.

If all the free games being given away there is any indication, no. Their allowance of raffle style giveaways is also a big incompatibility.

Well, the rules (no massively distributed free games, regifting, referrals, no calling out, no begging, steam redeemable, etc) are basically the same, the giveaway system is different though.

  1. Two modes:
    • raffle, in which you may spend as many points as you want to get as many entries as you want to try and win a single game.
    • single entry, self-explanatory.

  2. CV is based on what is being given away, however, there is no CV reduction because of bundles. All games give full value.

  3. There are no levels, only contribution value. You may reserve giveaways for users who gave $X and more and to users from your group. You may also make group giveaways visible to non-group users so that they may join, or keep them private.

tl;dr: Rules yes, giveaway system not so. Have cute foam kitten. :3
