Hey people, I had to RMA my 970 and now I'm stuck with a Skylake iGPU.

It's been already a week and I got no idea what I should play.

The iGPU in Skylake is Intel HD 530.

Any recommendations?

Also I'm on 1080p.

Have a game also.

Rise of Nations

took a look at the benchmarks, you'll probably be able to run some older fps games, in which case I'd suggest Fallout New Vegas

Well, it would run, but it would require some kind of practice and stuff.

I'd prefer some kind of story game or something like that.

Fallout won't run at playable fps on 1080p.

It won't run? That's odd, I used to play it on 1080p with a 9800M GTS.

I haven't tried any point-and-clicks in a long time... Tex Murphy titles are fun (yes, a long time)

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure I've played New Vegas and Skyrim at least at 720p/30FPS on laptop Intel graphics a few generations older, although I might've used mods to reduce the textures some on the latter. 60FPS on newer iGPUs should be achievable.

Well, Fallout is a game that I want to play maxed out and I don't wanna screw my experience on lowest settings.

Yes it can. an HD 530 can play Bioshock Infinite at 1080 at very playable fps on low. It can handle New Vegas and 3 just fine. Hell, it's been shown to be able to play GTA V with some major tweaking.

With integrated GPUs RAM speed matters more, going from slowest to fastest can be a difference between 2-10 FPS on average, which mattter when you're talking about 30 FPS to be playable for most games.

Visual novels? Point and click, hidden objects, side-scrollers? There are thousand of games which can run on basically and crap system. Pretty much anything that has 2D graphics.

Yeah, there are, that's why I asked if there are any worth mentioning.

I might take a loot on Shadowrun series, my friend played them like a month ago and said they're fun.

I have AMD graphic card on laptop but I have not used it yet because AMD drivers for Linux suck. (tried fglrx, radeon and amdgpu)
I'm waiting for amdgpu PRO to finally play games using my discrete card.
Meanwhile I managed to play some games with IGP like Towerfall, Hotline Miami 1/2, Blazerush, Badland, BRAWL, Crimsonland, FORCED, Knight Squad, Party Hard. These are some examples of good games playable on IGP.

Pretty much anything that is not an FPS, TPS, or 3D RTS released in the past 2-3 years. The 530 is a surprisingly strong graphics chip.

I'm in the same situation but using Intel HD 4600. Go with a lower resolution and adjust the appropriate settings and you'll be surprised what you can run.

From the games you own already on Steam:

There's a ton of other games that you could probably run, but I've left out due to either review scores, being unfamiliar to me, or because while you could run it, you probably will be wanting to wait for your GPU to show up before playing them.

You don't own it on Steam, but RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is old but quite good.

Telltale games such as:
Tales from the borderlands, the walking dead, the wolf among us.
Theyre cool.

Stuff in the fallout-style such as:
Wastelands 2 DC which is good.

Shadowrun games run on igpu's as well and are pretty sweet. At least these ones: Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut, Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition

Those are a few off the top of my head that are nice to play and don't require much gpu-power.
