Hey folks, time for another thread I guess 😝

I recently "celebrated" my 5 year SG anniversary here, but upon looking back, I've only really started getting active since 30th April 2017, where I did my second ever giveaway. Funnily enough, my first ever giveaway was for Oxenfree, a game which I am currently playing just completed - talk about a random coincidence! I really enjoyed the heavy narrative, and the dialogue interactions and consequences

So, anyway, I thought I'd do another giveaway thread, with some HB leftovers for you to vote upon. No steamy games this time, sorry.
I will allow a few days for voting to come in, and once I'm satisfied we have enough votes I will do giveaways for the top 5ish.
Please be advised that I will restrict giveaways to level 3, and that I will have a gate (probably a jigidi) before you can enter.

In the meantime, feel free to share what your first giveaway was, and discuss what of the giveaways you've done for which you really enjoyed the game as well, or perhaps a game you won instead, and really enjoyed.

Of the few games I've won, Valiant Hearts, The Invisible Hours, Lust for Darkness, and Mad Age and This Guy were the standouts.

Giveaways are up, enter through the jigidi!

Congratulations on your fifth cakeday!
My first giveaway was for Magicka. My recent giveaways in the category "I really liked this game and want to share the experience with someone" were Bioshock Infinite, Gal*gun, and Life is Strange.

Oxenfree was really great. I was planning on replaying it when I've forgotten most of the story ... and that might actually have happened now.

I played a bit of Magicka. I think I stopped at one of the "bosses" when one of the gameplay mechanics frustrated me (or maybe it was just me). I might have to pick it up again at some stage.

Gal^Gun and Life is Strange were good too, for probably two entirely opposite sort of "feels". A couple of the songs in LiS got stuck in my throat for months, and even now when I happen to hear something similar it makes me think of it.

My very first two giveaways were TrackMania 2 Stadium and The Stanley Parable.
Two games I already owned and that I really liked. The first for the editor (I suck at races, but Press Forwards are always fun) and the second for the meta commentary and for the amount of times I thought I could be smarter, to no avail ^^.

I've also won Oxenfree a few months back and I really loved the game. The sound design for it was amazing (and quite eerie at times) and I loved the inventiveness for the dialog system, it was the first time I saw conversations handled like that.
I'm also a big fan of stories involving time loops and gimmicks so I appreciated the content and the way it was told.

Also for the poll, I voted Planet Coaster, I already have it and I highly recommend it. Being a RollerCoaster Tycoon fan, I was really impressed with what they did with the game. I'm planning on buying Planet Zoo soon, the content seems really amazing.

Thanks for the puzzle and games :)

Thanks for sharing! Yep, I used to play Trackmania United (I think it was?) A LOT back in the day, fun times!

Not a fan of strategy, sim, or management games, so hopefully the winner gets to enjoy Planet Coaster as much as you :)

Happy belated Cake Day! :)

My first giveaway was not quite as good as Oxenfree (which is an excellent game), unfortunately. It was Dead6hot. Not a very auspicious beginning, that is for sure!

My first win was Bastion, which I was very happy to win. It was a heck of a lot of fun! :)

I should add that I loved Submerged so much that I made 5 giveaways of it over time. One of my favourite games of all time!

Submerged ... one of those games people rave about, and I get curious to try, and then realise I don't own it XD

Yes, I know it was free on EGS, but let's not start with that!

And no worries. I am not a fan of Epic either. ;)

Noice. Giveaway i've enjoyed the most were the ones i've made for Warband as it is one of the best games for steam ever. :P From the ones i've won i've enjoyed all equally. (maybe not the unfiltered ones when i didnt care what i enter but still i'll be nice to GA creators saying that i've enjoyed all the same - with joy and pleasure). I still need to play two wins from Playing Appreciated group but i hope i'll finish those before winning Bard's Tale 4 from ya :D Thanks and keep on being awesome. Yes.

First GA from me was for Sacred Citadel from humble bundle. Not too good not too bad. Yes.

What do you mean?

In my opinion Planet Coaster and Graveyard Keeper you want to get out of this vote. But hey, everybody's got a different taste, right?

I'm still confused, what do you mean?

I was just wondering, why people vote this game instead of the others.

So, just because you don't like Hand of Fate 2, you are curious why others are allowed to vote for it?

Naw, they can vote for whatever game they like. What you games you give to vote for, is absolutely your choice. I was curious, because I didn't think people will like that so much. I voted for Planet Coaster, even though I have that already, because I thought people would like to have that.
Like I said, don't worry about it. It seems, like my opinion bother you a lot, so I am willing to state, that my post wasn't much reflected. I guess I need to be more careful with what I am writing, because there is always someone effected by it, right?
Have a good day ;)

Belated Happy Cakeday!

It seems my first ever GA was... Horny Fighter. 🤣
Of the games I've given away that I already own, I really enjoyed Mind: Path to Thalamus.
It's a simple walksim but the surreal world you explore in it is just breathtaking and the puzzles are really chill instead of mindbendingly difficult.

Of the games I won, the ones I had a blast playing are

  • Hollow Knight (which made me contemplate the meaning of life after dying to Pure Vessel for the nth time),
  • Spyro (which made me feel like a kid again),
  • Yoku's Island Express (which made me realize pinball is really fun even though I'm unbelievably bad at it),
  • Kingdom: New Lands (which made me realize that a game with simple gameplay doesn't have to be boring at all and that all you need if you want to build a kingdom is a unicorn that poops gold, also I won it from you so thanks again! 😋)
  • and Paradigm (which could just be the 5-minute part of the game where you use this secret technique and it would still be a great game)

Hey, thanks for sharing!

Mind: Path to Thalamus - a game I should probably play then, thanks for the recommendation!
Hollow Knight - this one is a love/hate one. I poured A LOT of time into it and only managed to get up to that one boss stage with the four umm, crickets were they? It was a real challenge to get that far, and then getting smashed over. and over. and over again. That will forever remain on my uncompleted pile of beautiful letdowns.
Spyro - oh yeah, gonna play this too! I played the Crash remastered trilogy for the first time in Feb, after having no real nostalgia for Crash (beyond a bit of Crash TeamRacing), and had a blast, so Spyro is a definite must-play for me as well.
Yoku's Island Express - Totally agree, it's a great game. Metroidvania pinball game done just right.
Kingdom: New Lands - a combination of pixel graphics and rogue-like gameplay kinda turned me off playing this for long. Im glad you liked it though, a lot of people I know loved it.
Paradigm - This one is on my short list for lockdown games to play this month. And yeah, kinda makes me think of Arnie in Terminator 2 XD

EDIT: Paradigm played, enjoyed!
